Democratic mayor speaks at birthday celebration for Muhammad

Earlier I noted the town of Binghamton, NY had scheduled a celebration of the birthday of Muhammad. The local media dubbed it "the first-ever celebration of Muhammad's birthday in Binghamton."

The celebration occurred in Binghamton over the weekend.

According to this account, the speakers at the Muhammad birthday celebration included Rev. Douglas Taylor, a Unitarian minister and, Matt Ryan, the Democratic mayor of Binghamton. About 400 attended the celebration.
