Sacramento Bee endorses Kevin Johnson for Mayor of Sacramento

Kevin Johnson, the community leader and former NBA player who is running for mayor of Sacramento, was endorsed by the Sacramento Bee Sunday.

Johnson's opponent is entrenched Democrat Heather Fargo. Although a Democrat himself, Johnson is clearly more conservative than most politicians in his party. He has said he thinks marriage is between a man and a woman -- a view that is out of step with most Dem politicians. (Of course, party activists pummeled him over his views, and he eventually bowed to pressure and said he would oppose Proposition 8, the ballot measure to keep marriage between a man and a woman.)

The small percentage of Republican voters inside the Sacramento city limits will vote overwhelmingly for Kevin Johnson.
