Many 'Star-Ledger' Reporters Turn to the 'Other Side' After Buyouts

NEW YORK At least 16 reporters and newsroom staffers at The Star-Ledger of Newark, N.J., most of whom left the paper in the past year's massive buyout, are now working for public officials or state agencies the paper covers.

In several cases, writers who covered a specific beat are now working for individuals or agencies upon which they once reported.

Any ‘Light Bulb Moments’ yet? What happened to the $500 million, donated by little moms and pops?

Headline: $1.74 million deadbeats of the day: Obama and the DNC

Where’s the skinny on Pruitt’s shared pain?

The last salary information for Gary (‘UP YOURS’) Pruitt is dated 2007. When will the 2008 information be available? Even with wage freezes, and no bonuses, I want to see how much he shares my pain.

7:40 No surprises here. I worked for a state agency 15 years ago when the only major paper agreed to become press release central for them. It was a great victory. No more classes on how to deal with the press. From that point on, we were partners.

I am getting the biggest laugh on the liberal media. They say we have to give Obummer a chance. Just like the chance they gave President Bush, right?

Liberals think we have a short memory. When President Bush looked too good handling 9/11, they faulted him for taking a few minutes to finish a story he was reading to youngsters, rather than upset them. He was torn limb from limb for that. How petty, how disgusting, and from the enlightened ones?

I am betting half the journalists moaning and groaning about losing their jobs, threw their mental shoes at the President for that act of kindness. Sorry, not feeling your pain yet?

Liberals don't play by the rules!
How did the normal people in Washington state let the Democrats count the votes three times until a Democrat was elected governor?

Finding votes that were mysteriously left in an office, and not under continuous lock and key, were counted for the Democrat? Have they no shame? Who gives a shit if Seattle loses both their so-called news organs? What the hell good are they?

Anonymous said...

Democrats don't play by the rules? Of course they do! They make them! The real problem is that there are two sets of rules: one for Democrats and another for Republicans!

Clinton Drops Human Rights Talks in China; Could It Be Because Obama Needs a Chinese Loan to Fund the Stimulus?

“Both critics are correct in their assessment. But Clinton, and President Barack Obama, are more concerned with these days is how they are going to fund their massive government stimulus programs.”

"Liberals don't play by the rules!"

Well it is no coincidence that over 95% of the US prison population confirm an affiliation to the democrat party. This really is kind of a no brainer. Look at who they are, what groups they represent. Criminals, deadbeats, welfare queens, militant homosexuals, muslims, socialists, marxists, drug addicts, gang bangers and Journalists.

Not playing by the rules kind of goes with the territory don't you think?

-----------
Of course she did. If she didn't all the Chinese have to do is produce one of the 60+ people her husband allowed to escape after getting caught selling the hardened guidance systems necessary to strike US soil with nuclear missiles.
A whole lot of people still haven't forgotten that, and one yacking Chinese spy can ruin a whole manufactured legacy.

Anyone else notice how the Dems don’t shout President Bush caused this economic downturn? Could be the Dems using their ‘Social Justice’ theme forced Banks to make 100% loans? Now we have to pay the piper throughout the entire economy? Maybe because the Dems have been the majority in congress in charge of spending for two years? Maybe because the Dems can’t seem to find an honest person to help the Messiah rule? Old Nanny Palousy better drain the swamp again.

Even before I realized how slanted the McClatchy news really was, I questioned the biased expressions used against Israel. I still do not know why they just didn’t give us a complete picture, and let the readers form their own opinions. They just had to try and force their world view on us. I no longer believe a word they write.
NOT ONE WORD!

Know this isn't McClatchy-related, but ...

National Press Photographers Association website currently reports Denver Post layoffs of - hold on - MANAGERS! MANAGERS? MANAGERS?

IN-BLEEPING-CREDIBLE!

As an unemployed journalist myself, I take no glee in the misfortunes of other journalists, even a newspaper manager. I'm just shocked that the axes have finally hit some of these folks. Usually, it's the hard-working news grunts getting whacked. With layoffs, you can't touch the paper's golden children. Who'd be there to lead the grunts?

High-salary schmucks, those above you have just stolen your Kevlar vests. Now, if only my six-figure-salary, country-club-living, former executive editor (such a sweetheart - she approves newsroom layoffs with a smile) would get whacked - oops - I meant to write "parachuted."

We have some people spouting poetry, people obsessed with hating Obama.

They are not worried at all that the Repulicans put us in the finacial condition were are in now. They spent Quadrillion Dollars in Iraq, (a useless war) and ran up the national debt to the ceiling. Now they are blaming Obama_get real!

Skip the politics! I just wonder why the newspaper business did not report on the lousy job the former administration was doing looking out for our financial well being. Did Obama have something to do with that? Think not my friend.

The media should not have been blind to all the corruption and greed going on Wall Street and in Congress since the year 2001.

If we had known what was going on last spring and we SHOULD have, we could have changed our financial arrangements before it was too late.

It happened in ONE week in September and no one saw in coming. ASK YOUSELF, WHY NOT?

Dear 8:53,

A few thoughts:

Other than incorrectly spelling the name of the late Clinton family cat, you're smart.

That is, compared to the "fair and balanced" slugs whose postings followed yours today. Okay, so you hate the cat. Fine. By the way, it's S-O-C-K-S, not S-O-X. That's either the Boston or Chicago baseball team; it's also the plural of "sock." So, buy the book "written" by G.H.W. Bush's dog Millie years ago. You'll love it, I'm sure.

Yeah, a White House pet writes a book. When you're done, send it to Rush, it'll raise his I.Q. by at least 50 points. I can live with that.

What I have issues with are the drunken twits who write (at a third-grade level) their opinions about their hero Joseph Goebbels or how Obama will be the next Joseph Stalin. They're bleeping nuts.

So, dear Newsance - What is that, anyway? "News Stance" I can understand, but "Newsance?" Maybe it's a typo. Been there. - you're a genius. You don't know the cat's name was S-O-C-K-S, but you're okay. Just stay out of journalism.

You know, that whole accuracy thing ...

Let's just try to keep this forum about McClatchy's decline - or maybe print journalism's decline. There is no room for some Bill O'Reilly wannabe having a drunken afternoon writing how this newspaper or that newspaper is "tits up." Really.

That's so third grade. Even Socks knew better.

Go find your friends in the unemployment line. You can compare the length of your whatsits.

I love republitards... they taste like chicken.

I'll take the marxism any day over the social structure you've given us with the illusion of a two party system. No one - get that meat head - NO ONE has ever been elected to a ruling seat in this country without passing the muster of the ruling elite. The blue bloods. The old money.

By your writing, I can tell you aren't even a distant relative. Yet you'll blindly support the republicans for what? Because God told you to? Because "DEMS ARE GONNA TAKE MY GUNS"? Maybe it's because Jeb is your cousin. Whatever the reason, get over yourself. You people forced the rest of the civilized world into 8 years worth of a man who reads children's books upside down. I don't expect you to support an intellectual. For the love of all that is good and holy, realize this site is devoted to bashing a newspaper company. Not a political party.

And... hot tip for ya... don't assume all of us who voted the "christian" right out of Washington are liberal or unarmed. That would be a perilous mistake on your part.

The problem with inbreeding is that eventually it becomes painfully obvious.
