The Sacramento Bee is sending its Terms of Service around the Internet today. Or so it seems. An emailer told me he went on SacBee.com and after clicking to find MNI's share price, the Terms of Service popped up. Earlier today, the Terms of Service was posted on Google News. Click here if you want to read it.
Doesn't seem like an effective way to build readership.
UPDATE: Is the Bee planning to charge for some content? Good luck with that.
MNI's content is horrible. But should MNI find any content worth charging for, they will. Good work guys, count me in! HAHA
At this time, there is no cost for using the basic or premium services of sacbee.com. From time to time there may be premium content available via subscription or surcharge, and those areas will be clearly marked. Because this is an advertising-supported service, we encourage you to patronize the advertisers that help to make this service possible.
The Sacramento Bee newspaper's electronic archives carry a fee per full-text article downloaded. Note that most news articles remain available for 30 in the pages of sacbee.com. Additional information, including credt card information, may be required to complete this purchase.
8:45 play by the rules or you might get deleted.
Damn, I missed it.
Don't forget boys and girls. Clean your cookies if you don't want the trackers. That is a really sorry way to get hits. But, a loser has to do what a loser has to do.
yeah, MNI. Always on the cutting edge. Didn't NYT try this about three years ago and surrender when their readers decided they could find the same news elsewhere for free? Duh.
To all McClatchy papers play by my rules. Never appear on my computer again!!! Never appear in my yard again!
Give them my credit card number????? Are you kidding me?
We need to check if elected politicians have a subscription to the Bee? I heard that it is delivered to every legislator on the taxpayer’s dime. They even have their local papers delivered to them courtesy of the fleeced ones. The papers keep coming even when members are not in session. What a waste of trees and ink! Oh well, they’ll get bailout money to continue their life of leisure. It beats the hell out of working for a living.
Loving in truth, and fain in verse my love to show,
That she (dear She) might take some pleasure of my pain:
Pleasure might cause her read, reading might make her know,
Knowledge might pity win, and pity grace obtain;
I sought fit words to paint the blackest face of woe,
Studying inventions fine, her wits to entertain:
Oft turning others' leaves, to see if thence would flow
Some fresh and fruitful showers upon my sun-burned brain.
But words came halting forth, wanting Invention's stay,
Invention, Nature's child, fled step-dame Study's blows,
And others' feet still seemed but strangers in my way.
Thus, great with child to speak, and helpless in my throes,
Biting my truant pen, beating myself for spite--
"Fool," said my Muse to me, "look in thy heart and write."
