With all the media attention on Global Warming gone crazy, the KC Star reported today about the cooler than normal July. The 2nd coolest on record since 1891.

http://www.kansascity.com/637/story/1356306.html

Can the newspapers realize that some of the liberal ideas such as Global Warming are not as real as they hyped?

Now if only they will really report about the sorry state of MNI, Obamacare, quadrupling of the deficit, loss of jobs and other news that will have an effect on people. (killing of the newspapers it owns on the MNI aspect)
Sorry, had a wishful moment that they were going to get back to reporting news as it is with out the spin.

Just curious, but have all of you right wing idiots written into your will to not have your obit put into the newspaper?

I can find nothing funnier when you die for someone to add insult to injury and post about your life in something that you so vehemently hate.

Ken? Is that you? Why are you up so early? You do a little too much blow and can’t sleep?

Or did you almost OD last night, and that’s why you have death on the brain this early on this fine morning?

Noogies for Ken

Sorority president sued over wax statue of herself AP

CHICAGO — Members of the country's oldest black sorority are suing to remove their president, alleging that she spent hundreds ($911,000)of thousands of dollars of the group's money on herself — some of it to pay for a wax statue in her own likeness.

In the suit filed in Washington, D.C., the Alpha Kappa Alpha members also alleged that international President Barbara McKinzie bought designer clothing, jewelry and lingerie with the sorority credit card. She then redeemed points the purchases earned on the card to buy a big-screen television and gym equipment, the lawsuit said.

Venezuela: 'Freedom of expression must be limited' AP--Drudge

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Venezuela's top prosecutor insisted Thursday that freedom of expression in Venezuela "must be limited" and proposed legislation that would slap additional restrictions on the country's news media.

The new law would punish the owners of radio stations, television channels and newspapers that have attempted to "cause panic" and "disturb social peace," Attorney General Luisa Ortega said.

It also would punish media owners who "manipulate the news with the purpose of transmitting a false perception of the facts."

"Freedom of expression must be limited," Ortega said.

The Politics of Reverse Racism in America Pravda EVEN PRAVDA GETS IT

The incident concerning the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. in July 16 of 2009 in Cambridge, Massachusetts has a hidden (inconvenient) truth unsaid in contemporary American society.

It has to do with the rising tide of reverse racism (by minorities, or blacks in this case) after decades of hard work by those in the Civil Rights Movement, and the phenomenon of reverse-racism in this case also involves black nepotism.

Shortly after the incident, President Barack Obama, who regards himself as a black and a friend of Gates, called the arrest "stupid," even though he acknowledged of not knowing all the facts about the incident (and later had to call the arresting white police officer, Sgt. James Crowley, in order to to quell the public uproar against his biased remark).

Anonymous said...

Reverse racism...or simply stated, racism, as practiced by the Obamantion himself.

"I may be a little biased here, and I don't know all the facts, but the Cambridge Police clearly acted stupidly."

Obama let his bias and underlying feelings be exposed with that statement.

In truth, underneath the sheen, and the thin venier...behind the TOTUS, Obama is just like Gates, Wright, Ayers, etc.

Tactical Retreat, Not Waterloo, On ObamaCare "IBD Editorials"

Yesterday, Barack Obama was God. Today, he's fallen from grace, the magic gone, his health care reform dead.

If you believed the first idiocy — and half the mainstream media did — you'll believe the second. Don't believe either.

Conventional wisdom always makes straight-line projections. They are always wrong.

Yes, Obama's aura has diminished, in part because of overweening overexposure. But by year's end he will emerge with something he can call health care reform.

The Democrats in Congress will pass it because they must. Otherwise, they'll have slain their own savior in his first year in office.

But that bill will look nothing like the massive reform Obama originally intended. The beginning of the retreat was signaled by Obama's curious reference — made five times — to "health-insurance reform" in his July 22 news conference.

Reforming the health care system is dead. Cause of death? Blunt trauma administered not by Republicans, not even by Blue Dog Democrats, but by the green eyeshades at the Congressional Budget Office.

The poor, benighted little people. They just don't understand what a wonderful hopey-changey world Pres. Obama is offering them . . .

Andrea Mitchell has suggested that the problem Pres. Obama is facing in selling his health care plan to Americans who already have coverage is that people "may not know what's good for them."

Mitchell made her condescending comment on today's Morning Joe.

Fitz has a good explanation of short selling and the newspaper stock run in progress.

@ E & P
By Mark Fitzgerald

Thank Short Sellers for the Rally in Newspaper Stocks?
Newspaper stocks have soared over the past two weeks. [Short sellers, the folks who bet against newspapers,] deserve at least a tip of the hat when you look at the numbers.
[snip]
Short sellers, those investors who profit when a stock price declines, could be called the unsung heroes of this rally.

Short sellers borrow shares and sell them, hoping the share price goes down so that when they buy shares to return them they can pocket the difference. But if the share price increases, "shorts" must quickly buy shares before they take big losses. Their efforts can run prices up rapidly.

It's called "short-covering," and it's the first explanation that occurred to Morningstar equity analyst Tom Corbett when newspaper stocks started soaring on July 15. That's the day Gannett reported a second-quarter profit that surprised analysts expecting a loss.

"I would attribute a good portion of the recent rally to what they call a 'short squeeze,'" he said Wednesday.

It has yet to provide records sought by this newspaper.

UK Couples 'Forced To Go Abroad For IVF' (Sky News)

"Increasing numbers of childless British couples are being forced to have fertility treatment abroad because of patchy NHS provision and plummeting donor rates, campaigners have told Sky News.

National guidelines say all primary care trusts (PCTs) should offer three courses of in vitro fertilisation (IVF), but in reality more than two in three do not.

And even those who can afford to go private are finding the number of egg and sperm donors increasingly scarce.

The decline has been blamed on a change in the law ending donor anonymity and the lack of any payment as an incentive.

Media ignores worst of Obama’s freefall (The Collins Report)

The media is glossing over the truth of Obama’s approval freefall. His situation is serious because of which groups are turning away.

July has been a disaster for Obama’s approval numbers.

Gallup says Obama’s numbers fell 4 points overall and 7 points among 18 to 29s. With voters over 65 only 48% approve of Obama. Young and old are realizing they were lied to.

Rasmussen says Obama’s approval index (strongly approve versus strongly disapprove) has fallen to -12 points.

Zogby says Obama’s approval is 48% the lowest he has recorded for him.

Obama has lost 9 points with Latinos; 15 % unemployment is killing hopes for change. Nevertheless, he can snap his fingers and get these fools back. They’re not capable of voting Republican.

Michelle Obama's toxic veggie nightmare: White House organic garden polluted with sludge
(dailyfinance.com)

When First Lady Michelle Obama planted an organic vegetable garden on the White House lawn in March 2009, she hoped to both set an example of healthy eating and to grow tasty edibles for her daughters and husband. But Michelle's organic dream has been dashed by a nasty toxic legacy lurking in the soils of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

But I'd wager that Sasha, Malia and Barack won't be getting arugula or tomatoes from this garden any time soon.

The likely source of the toxic sludge that has ruined Michelle's garden? The Clinton White House apparently used a sludge-based product to fertilize the lawn during the 1990s!

IPS teacher kept his job despite red flags(.indy.com)

School districts, state agency blamed in molestation case

Indiana child welfare officials and school districts in two states had a responsibility to protect children in Lee N. Tibbetts’ classroom, but a series of miscommunications and missteps among those agencies failed to catch a pattern of problematic behavior over three years.

That breakdown allowed Tibbetts to remain in the classroom despite multiple accusations, including one that eventually led to the math teacher being arrested on charges alleging he molested a student while teaching for Indianapolis Public Schools.

A review by The Indianapolis Star and The Cincinnati Enquirer shows that red flags were raised as early as 2007, two years before police say Tibbetts molested a 13-year-old Indianapolis boy.

"Then, apparently thinking he is pointing out an error in Krugman's article, he cites a column on Townhall, whose home page says it is "the Source for Conservative Political News, Cartoons, Issues and Blogs"

1. As stated, Krugman's article is one big fantasy that ignores basic reality.
Quoting Stossel:
"Health care "reformers" keep talking about getting us more health insurance. Then they talk about cutting costs. This is contradictory nonsense.
Insurance, whether private or a government Ponzi scheme like Medicare, means third parties pay the bills. When someone else pays, costs always go up."

2. Yes/No...if Townhall posts something that is factually correct, would you disagree with it anyway, just because Townhall is "conservative"?

3. If you disagree with Stossel, then so be it, you're entitled. Freedom is a wonderful thing.

4. Government involvement is the primary reason for uncontrollable health care costs. If the government would get 99% OUT of the health care business...AND...if health insurance was used only for catastrophic circumstances, but NOT for office visits...(the same way auto insurance works)...then it would become affordable.
Free market economics at its finest.

Again quoting Stossel:
This shouldn't be a surprise. What holds costs down is patients acting like consumers, looking out for themselves in a competitive market. Providers fight to win business by keeping costs down and quality up.

Fine -- but that still doesn't answer the question of how people with chronic diseases are going to get a for-profit company to insure them affordably.
