This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

McClatchy shares rise 23% the day before Tuesday's 2nd quarter earnings report
McClatchy (MNI) closed at 54 cents a share Monday, up 23% over Friday's close. (A 23% increase sounds huge -- but it was just 10 cents higher than the previous day's close.)
Volume was 968,845, a little lower than average. . . .
Let's see. All news points to bad earnings, deepening loss of revenue. What would prompt a rise in price?.....Drum Roll Please.....SHORT SELLERS COVERING!
