The News & Observer can't win for losing

A "progressive" subscriber in Raleigh says he is canceling his N&O subscription because the paper published an op-ed Saturday written by somebody from a conservative think tank. I am not kidding.

This weekend will be the last time in my life that I read the Raleigh News and Observer dead tree edition. It's been a long and bumpy ride, but I've finally reached the end of the road.

.

As some of you may know, I love journalism. Not only that, I'm married to a woman who teaches in the UNC School of Journalism, where I myself graduated with an M.A. But there comes a point where you have to vote with your pocketbook, and I've reached mine. I am canceling my N&O subscription ...

... now listen to Mr. Integrity's explanation:

... on Saturday, I came across this fountain of wishful thinking by Marc Rotterman, former Reagan acolyte and minion at the Puppetshow. That was the straw that finally broke this camel's back.

.

When a paper with all the resources of the McClatchy organization finds itself turning again and again to Art Pope's Five Million Dollar Opinion Factory for local commentary, something is badly out of whack. Whether it's a function of laziness or just bad judgment matters not. I will no longer allow the price of my subscription to be used to help spread the Pope agenda.

I can't help but wonder what this guys wife -- the journalism professor -- teaches her students about balance on the editorial pages.

THIS USEFUL IDIOT IS RIGHT UP THERE WITH COURIC AND GARAFALO

Couric: Like Cronkite, I Get 'Grief From Both Sides Of Aisle'(Early Show)

Katie Couric offered some comic relief on this morning's Early Show, preaching the importance of objectivity in reporting. As evidence of her impartiality, the CBS Evening News anchor cited the fact that, as did Cronkite, she has gotten "grief from both sides of the aisle."

Now I suppose some of the more radical elements of the Red Army Faction might have found something to quibble with in Couric's coverage over the years.

But how can the woman who has come to epitomize MSM liberal bias suggest with a straight face that criticism has come in comparable degree from the left and right?

Plus, you properly point out...

"I'm married to a woman who teaches in the UNC School of Journalism"

...marrying his mother is the other part of the little boy's problem.

You all must understand that Media Matters press releases and Huffington Post commentary is like a drug to the hive. Any spaces not used for their content is like cutting my dosage.

No doubt "diversity" is only considered a good thing when it doesn't suit one's world view.

I recently dropped the Sacramento Bee because of continuing left of center bias in the presentation of news.

I don't care if the editorial page is liberal or conservative.

Ms. Sill bragged about the balance of the opinion pages. I really don't care if Maureen Dowd is balanced out with a conservative!

Then how do you balance Dowd, who is delusional and imbalanced mentally?

Diversity in the liberal universe only means including members of specific groups who are counted as both victims and part of the liberal rainbow.
What diversity does not mean in the Alice and Wonderland of liberal "thought" is diversity of opinion, experience or world view. In other words, diversity must never mean actual differences in the areas that matter the most.
Hence the modern newsroom. Respresnatives of all the victim groups but all thinking the same things.

So let's get this right. I demand that you suppress ideas I disagree with. Right?
No wonder his wife is a journalism professor at UNC...the writer is an amateur, the wife is a professional.
