Bee cartoon mocks citizens expressing opinions at town halls

Incredibly, today's Sacramento Bee cartoon mocks Americans attending town halls to voice their opinions about the pending health care legislation. (Link here.)

Apparently cartoonist Rex Babin doesn't like it when American citizens have the gall to question their elected representatives face-to-face.

You could argue the citizens showing up to speak out against Obama Care are the only ones speaking truth to power in the current health care debate. McClatchy certainly isn't. The media -- including McClatchy -- have sided with the Democratic party and SEIU instead of the taxpayers.

The disdain Rex Babin has for citizens expressing their opinion on Obama Care says everything you need to know about Babin and his employer.

McClatchy stopped speaking truth to power January 20, when its favored candidate became president. Once Obama became President, Babin and the Bee turned against anybody who speaks out against the Obama administration.  To see the full series of Tea Party cartoons, click here.

Truth to Power?

Pffffft.

Not much imagination used here. It's the Dems party line that protestors are dumbasses. What were Cindy Sheehan's protestor buddies called by the media? Heroes.

The more the politicians and media work to paint Health care protesters as tools, the more anger it sparks.

Which incites more people to get up and say something.

The Corporate Media not only does not get it.. They are fueling the push for larger social media enabled protests.

I loved the Lady who told her Congress critter that She did not like being lied about, nor lied to.

There's a difference between constructive discourse and fanaticism. The right wing is engendering fear-mongering misinformation on the health care issue. Such as the Palin "death panel" idiocy. To quote a John Dorschner article in The Miami Herald:

"Two veteran healthcare policy experts, Gerard Anderson of Johns Hopkins and Steven Ullmann of the University of Miami, say much of the fear talk is based on innocuous references in the dense House bill to funding consultations on end-of-life care for those who want it ..."

"The one place in the bill that discusses dying, say both Anderson and Ullmann, comes with patients deciding how they want to end their lives.

"Insurers -- public and private -- generally don't pay a doctor for discussing the options of a living will, whether choosing to die at home or in a hospice or a hospital when the time comes.

"The reform proposal says that a doctor should be paid if the patient wants to discuss the issue -- nothing more. 'Nowhere is there the idea that somebody has to die,' Ullmann said."

So all it says is that insurance should pay for people to be able to have a conversation with their doctor. How NOT SCARY is that?

Sac Bee is not in the democrat pocket...no sir.
What a crock. More of the same ridicule and hatred for people who hold a different political view. The lefties don't disagree with them. Rather they would deny them their basic human right to have any opinion. After all the libs know what is best for us all.
Nazis is just the right historical reference for the liberal goon squads

Anonymous said...

The libs want the health care debate to deolve to the banality of evil where we talk about competing boards and percentages. This fight is about freedom not bureaucracy and emotion is rightfully present.
In the last cycle the same libs that are demanding "discourse" were supporting Cindy Shehans' unquestionable credibility.

AARP just crab-walked away from Obama's deathcare bill. I guess they don't believe him today!

There was never a word from the Bee whn activists dogged Bush and even brandished a gun along his motorcade. Guns pointed to his head posters, screaming crowds etc etc etc ad nauseum.

I dropped the Bee last month and am now recommending everyone do the same. If you are nothing more than a house organ for the left wing of the Democratic Party, then you need to drop any pretense of truth to power or claim to objectivity.

Right now in Great Britain, older adults are "counseled" into death so they won't be a burden. In Oregon we hear reports of the same thing. Only a willfully blind fool would not see the danger inherent in a government run system with a vested interest in lower costs and no possibility of appeal.

Love the thread, as it’s right above the thread where McClatchy wants to charge us “Clowns” to read their on-line propaganda.

Like Anon 2:12's lie, why would I want to pay some liberal, propagandist hack to tell me I’m a clown for not being a socialist? They should go work for, Cuba, the BBC or Al Jizzera

Four years ago no MSM EVER asked any questions about who the war protesters were. In their exquisitely crafted media judgement it was not relevant. Now that it's not leftie groups protesting, the "judgement" has been reversed.

What hypocrites these journalists be!

"Expressing opinions" -- that's a good one. These people are shouting inanities, like "Keep your goverment hands off my Medicare". LOL!

Go Bee go, mock angry US citizen, and Tea Parties. Every time you do that, you enrage more citizens into action. Ever hear of backlash? [AKA] as [blacklash.] It is coming. Democrats might be safe in LaLa Land, but the rest of country will make the liberal bums pay. You can take that to any bank Barney Franks hasn’t put out of business.

$1.2 trillion dollar deficit for 2009 and we have not even begun to pay for Obamacare.
The Sac Bee is only worried about jamming Obamacare down the throats of the American People before we figure it all out.

Liberals in their enlightened mastery want to decide which voices in our democracy are allowed to be heard and which ones are to be suppressed.
Let's see...
Some people dont deserve to be heard.
Goons to intimidate voters and taxpayers.
Political leadership giving emotional cover to make protestors unamerican.
Yes mein fuhrer.

You are only allowed to protest in Obama's America if you do it in the prescribed places and times and if we approve of the messages you use.
How far we have fallen!
Only leftwingers are allowed to say things that don't make any sense.

What is the difference between constructive discourse and fanaticsm?
Where were you as the democrats refused to allow the minority any input to the health care legislation? Which was that?
When Democrat union goons beat up a black man and called him racial names, was that discourse or fanaticism?
When the democrats tried to jam healthcare legislation throuh before the august recess, was that fanaticism or discourse.
How about when the democrats use a parlimentary trick to jam healthcare through the senate in a reconcilliation bill...is that discourse or fanaticism?
You are a dishonest twit.

LINK TO PERSON WHO EXPOSED THE WHITE HOUSE 11 YEAR OLD AND HER MOM AS DNC SHILL PLANTS

The little girl who talked about mean signs at the Obama town hall

Julia Hall, the girl who asked Obama a question about healthcare

(note: I am the original source of this story, I put together the research below and posted it to AR15.com)

Like many others I watched the "town hall" meeting in Portsmouth NH with the supposedly randomly selected audience.

http://www.c-span.org/Watch/Media/2009/08/11/HP/R/22002/Pres+Obama+Senators+Hold+Health+Care+Town+Halls.aspx

The second person "randomly" selected to ask a question was a young girl called Julia Hall from Malden MA (asks question at 29 mins 25 secs into the video).

Julia read the following question off a piece of paper: "As I was walking in I saw a lot of signs outside saying mean things about reforming healthcare. How do kids know what is true and why do people want a new system that can help more of us".

This randomly asked question gave Obama the perfect opportunity to dismiss talk about "death panels that will pull the plug on Grandma" and to blame Republicans for everything. Over on the town hall comments thread at AR15.com a user by the name of AtomicPunk09 discovered someone on facebook who might possibly be Julia's mother and had a photo of her with Obama:

http://www.facebook.com/people/Kathleen-Manning-Hall/1545820503

(Edit 8/12, 9.30am EST: Facebook page has now disappeared)

All old information and it cannot be proven that Kathleen is Julia's mother, right????

Hold on, look who is sitting next to Julia in the video:

McCLATCHY IS FRENCH? WHO KNEW?

Air France Paris Club Lounge Blocks Conservative Websites

While waiting for a flight at the Paris Air France club lounge yesterday, I logged into to their free computers to catch US news and found that they used OLFEO to block the following sites:

Blocked as pornographic: National Review, Hot Air, Foxnews Nation, Dick Morris, Ann Coulter, Brent Bozell, Steyn Online, Joe Sobran, American Spectator, American Thinker, Powerline and Canada Free Press.

Yet, unblocked sites were Huffington Post, Democratic Underground, and Daily Kos.

The Air France staff on hand had no explanation and since it was 4:50 PM and this was Europe there was no one there to deal with it.

Isn’t it amazing that the extreme leftist sites are allowed but National Review is blocked.

Virgin Air lounge in London, had no such censorship in their club.

Being told you are a racist, Nazi who does not deserve to have an opinion brings out the rational discourse in all of us.

When Rep Scott democrat from Georgia shouted down the constituent who asked him a question during the Q&A time after waiting through a four hour agenda, who was being rational? The doc or the arrogant congressman who thinks he is too good to have to take questions from a taxpayer.

Anonymous said...

Does collecting the fishy opinions of voters in a white house database help the tone of the debate? The SacBee only inflames people who are angry at having their health care system stolen from them.

Anonymous said...

Keep your government hands off my Medicare makes as much sense as "46 million uninsured american" or "we don't want a single payor system"

What really makes me angry is the feeling of being strangled by the media who not only won't tell the truth, they hide the truth in favor of lies that support "their" side.

Right now in Great Britain, older adults are "counseled" into death so they won't be a burden.

=============

Right now in Great Britain Euthansia is alive and well going full steam ahead.

"Since that time, the government passed legislation in 2005 - the Mental Capacity Act - that, following existing guidelines from the British Medical Association, allows doctors to withhold all "treatment," including food and water, from patients who are judged to be incapable of making decisions for themselves. Under this law, doctors, and not the family and not the patient, have the last say in whether a patient is judged mentally capable. Once this judgment has been made, withdrawal of fluids can be ordered on the grounds that it is in the patient's "best interests" to die. If families try to intervene to save their loved ones lives, social services and police can be, and have been, called to intervene."

Platinum Continues To Slash (San Diego) Union-Tribune Staff, Cuts 200 (PaidContent.org)

The San Diego Union-Tribune has laid off about 200 of its employees, a source tells us. The mass layoffs come four months after private equity firm Platinum Equity—which is also reportedly trying to buy the Boston Globe—purchased the paper.

Under Platinum Equity’s ownership, the paper had already laid off 192 employees in May, meaning it will have now eliminated a staggering 40percent of staff since it took over. The paper will now have about 650 employees.

Union-Tribune management is confirming that there were in fact new job cuts but is not saying how many. The company is also announcing a new advertising initiative aimed at small businesses and additional hyper-local coverage plans.

In an article on the Union-Tribune’s website, Publisher Ed Moss says “These initiatives, taken as a whole, strike a balance between our short-term economic reality and our long-term aspirations for growth and reinvention of our product.”

There had been speculation that more big cuts were coming. Platinum Equity specializes in turning around distressed companies and it hired David Black of Black Press as an advisor in San Diego. Black Press itself cut nearly a third of the staff at the Akron Beacon-Journal since purchasing that paper three years ago.

Taking over the Union-Tribune‘s real estate was also thought to be one of the main drivers of Platinum Equity’s interest.

How about the crazy Code Pink kooks? The Bee just loved them.

Anonymous said...

To the mainstream media the definition of a kook is what party they represent. Conservative protestors are all kooks, while liberals are human rights advocates and peace protestors. It's become very transparent and they aren't fooling anybody.

Of course seniors might be yelling to keep your hands of their Medicare because Obama and the Democrats who rule Congress plan to cut medicare by $500 billion to pay for Obamacare.

Cranky old people can be so selfish.

You shouldn't be repeating talking points from Cynthia Tucker the race baiter.

I saw a good list of all the govenment failures. It was just about everything they have ever touched. I don't want them even touching health care. Obama lies, why would anyone believe him. AARP is jumping ship, so they say. Obama propably knows they don't mean it. They are birds of a feather.

I can just see Melanie Sill laughing at this lame cartoon. Mocking people is her MO. She thought the dumpster divers at the ADN were doing solid journalism. Why does she still have a job, because she is a female of a certain age?

Cheryl Ebright, you used to be my boss. What happened? I am dead serious, what has happened since San Angelo, Modesto Bee, Fresno Bee and on?

Anonymous said...

Why does Melanie Sill still have a job you ask? Who would want her job today? Smart people don't take dead-end jobs.

Anonymous said...

I’ll bet Sill’s salary is far from dead-end! She and Howard (the blowhard) Weaver are tight friends. He probably is the one that saved her from her disgrace in North Carolina. McClatchy should have fired her, but these minority female hires of years ago will haunt them to the end. The KC Star will go down with their liberal female journalists in tow.
Thank goodness!
