Description:

The Belleville News-Democrat, a 50,000-circulation daily in southwestern Illinois, has an opening for a page designer on our universal copy desk. We’re looking for a versatile journalist who is passionate about creating engaging, content-driven news and feature fronts, skilled at collaborating with both "word’’ and "visual’’ people and has a positive work style. The position also requires strong editing and headline-writing skills. I always think it's hilarious when old-timey newspaper editors ask for snail-mail submissions in this day and age. Designers keep their portfolios on any number of Web sites. Catch up with the times.
