Under Obama Care, Grannie won't really be at the mercy of relatives tempted to trade her in for a $4,500 voucher. But she could become malnourished -- or worse -- while being treated in a federal program, because there won't be enough funding to give her excellent care.
In fact, the nationalized system in the UK hasn't worked out well at all for grannies.
These headlines tell you what kind of care Grannie is getting in the UK:
- Elderly woman dies of malnutrition after hospital neglect
- Nurses 'too busy to feed elderly patients due to cutbacks'
- Hospital doctor 'hastened the death of elderly patient with painkillers'
- Pressure grows for inquiry into deaths of elderly patients at Gosport hospital
- Hospital care 'fails the elderly'
- Two elderly patients seriously injured in 20ft hospital fall
- Hospital stay may leave elderly malnourished
Due to staff shortages, inadequate medical supplies, and not enough funding to ensure excellent care, grannies are seriously at risk in the UK system.
So if you want Grannie to have excellent care, you have good reason to oppose Obama Care.
Well, at least we've stopped hearing about how "People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the U.K., where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless."
So what's the next scary red herring we're going to come up with?
Granny has Medicare before, Medicare after ObamaCare. Seems safe enough, unless her new End of Live counselor suggests a trip to London.
How about all the people here, now, who are cut off from treatment because someone at the insurance company finds some way to jerk their policy as soon as they file a claim, thereby earning a bonus for saving the company money?

Oregon Offers Terminal Patients Doctor-Assisted Suicide Instead of Medical Care (Fox News)
PORTLAND, Ore. — Some terminally ill patients in Oregon who turned to their state for health care were denied treatment and offered doctor-assisted suicide instead, a proposal some experts have called a "chilling" corruption of medical ethics.
Since the spread of his prostate cancer, 53-year-old Randy Stroup of Dexter, Ore., has been in a fight for his life. Uninsured and unable to pay for expensive chemotherapy, he applied to Oregon's state-run health plan for help.
Lane Individual Practice Association (LIPA), which administers the Oregon Health Plan in Lane County, responded to Stroup's request with a letter saying the state would not cover Stroup's pricey treatment, but would pay for the cost of physician-assisted suicide.
"It dropped my chin to the floor," Stroup told FOX News. "[How could they] not pay for medication that would help my life, and yet offer to pay to end my life?"
The letter, which has been sent to other terminal patients throughout Oregon, follows guidelines established by the state legislature.
Oregon doesn't cover life-prolonging treatment unless there is better than a 5 percent chance it will help the patients live for five more years — but it covers doctor-assisted suicide, defining it as a means of providing comfort, no different from hospice care or pain medication.
"It's chilling when you think about it," said Dr. William Toffler, a professor of family medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. "It absolutely conveys to the patient that continued living isn't worthwhile."
Have they offered the same help to the US Congress or the Administration yet?
Show me the first Senator or Representative who chooses “assisted suicide?”
OBAMA PANEL WARNS: SWINE FLU MAY KILL 90,000 (Drudge)
Swine flu MAY lead to as many as 90,000 deaths as reported by the President’s Council of Advisers on Science and Technology
(And they refused to close the borders)
There are two sets of problems with Obamacare. One is the content of the proposal(s) as they exist. The other set is the problems that flow out of Obamacare as a platform for promises. Once we allow the government to take over health care, there will be flood of new political promises and expectations that follow. Obamacare as it stands is just the nose of the camel under the tent...time to whack that nose right now.
If the death squad bill had gone through, Sen. Kennedy would be in front of them right now.
Nope, the bill doesn't apply to them. They took a vote.
For $4500 I'll give them my gradma and she not even sick. The cheapskate never gave me any birthday/christmas money.
Die old bat die.
Wrong, Just wrong.
