Fresno Bee to Guild: get ready for unpaid furloughs

The Fresno Bee is planning to implement furloughs:

Guild representatives received 30 days’ notice on Friday from management at the Fresno Bee of the company’s “intent to implement” a one-week unpaid furlough program.

The notice was hand-delivered by Human Resources Vice President Laura Janigian during a meeting at the newspaper held one day after members of the Fresno Bee Guild Unit narrowly rejected a company-proposed vacation-balance reduction program.

The vacation option was described as an alternative to unpaid furloughs, even though the company wouldn’t rule out furloughs either way. The company also had demanded the right to order vacation balances depleted in 2010.

SacBee guild site says it will post Fresno details when they have them. So, where are they? McClatchy Watch beat you! Some journalists.

I just checked Sac guild board. All they had was, "This just in Fresno voted “no” on the vacation burndown. We’ll give more details when we have them."
That was posted on Thursday!!!
You have to come to this site to get the best guild news coverage.

Fresno knows that when the newsroom consolation comes, Sac-town Bee will take the lead. Same with adverting.

One way or another, the middle sister will get the shorter share. So why, not flip off the vacation burn-down?

There will be no Fresno positions to protect.

What newsroom consolidation? And if so, you'd think McClatchy would handpick its best reporters from all three Bee's and let the rest go.

I notice that the Modesto Bee Guild is conspicuously quiet...trying to fly under the radar eh?

Laura Janigian and Mark Ochinero in Fresno Bee HR both desperately need to get their asses booted to the gutter like all the McClatchy discards they've handed severance packages to.

Maybe someone could show Wendy Mejia where Fresno is on the map. That would be a start.
Laura is certainly better than the grandma they had before her. Both her and Mark (The safety guy) came from Zacky Farms. A chicken processing plant.
