Gannett Blog Deux disappears -- updated

When Jim Hopkins stopped publishing Gannett Blog last month, two Gannett-theme blogs appeared: Gannettoid and Gannett Blog Deux. Naturally they competed for readership. After a few weeks it looks like Gannettoid won: I just discovered Gannett Blog Deux has mysteriously disappeared. I assume the publisher simply deleted the blog.

You can see a cached page here. (FYI, My thoughts on why people give up blogging are here.)

Update: The publisher of Gannettoid emailed a correction to what I wrote in the first paragraph -- he actually started Gannettoid in December, long before Jim Hopkins announced he would close Gannett Blog.

McClatchy would have multiple orgasms if this blog disappeared.

Their troll wouldn't. Her creds at the KOS and the truck stop would plummet.

Ugly trolls sent Gannett Blog to an early grave. I sadly watched them attack Jim Hopkins personally, post after post. In his naivety, he mistook the right to speak, with posters that only wanted the destruction of his information source. He simply needed to say he would not allow personal attacks, and delete them. It would have been a lot of work, but Gannett employees lost one of their voices. Were they worth or not? I guess not.

Trolls tried to ruin this blog. They attacked John personally, not his opinion. He is usually right-on in his observations, and the liberals can’t have that. Instead of offering a different rational point of view, they followed their Alinsky rule book.

Trolls have not tried to ruin this blog. They have tried to argue their opinions...to which they are just labeled trolls for not believing the crap you spew.

1:15 PM You well know 99% of the posters here, and our blog host, do not agree with your liberal drivel. You come here to disrupt the discussion. You have 99% of the liberal news site comment sections to spread your lame opinions in an echo chamber. Then you declare we are not entitled to discuss current event with like minded people. Trolls that come here to demean our host, and call posters idiots should be deleted. Demanding proof for an opinion is the lamest thing I have ever read. Go ask Obama for proof that his health care plan will lower costs?

I think the trolls on the Gannett blog were paid. They used the gang method taught by Alinsky. The troll posts were just too cut and dried. I felt sorry for Jim, and the employees that came there to share information, and let off steam. These Soros types couldn't stand for honest opinions in any form. They won, reading the Gannett Blog became to painful. No blog owes these lower forms of life a platform for their insanity.

I would rather pay higher cost and help people than pay lower and watch people die.

This is not 99% rightwing. Moreover the folks that tend to spam, belittle and otherise post stupid comments are Right wing.

Right-wing and conservative are quite two different things, IMO. Some posters here are Independent voters no longer supporting Obama. I am very conservative, and mostly vote GOP, now that the nutjobs have taken over the DNC. I wish the next election was tomorrow. Of course, Obama and the left-wingers have a lot of time to complete their suicide journey, there is always that to consider.

1:15 PM- Writing you come here: “for not believing the crap you spew” is very telling. You find the posts crap? You are a tiny minority here, and you waste your time. You come to disrupt, can‘t you even be honest about that?

Anon. 4:52 - So you are against abortion and euthanasia, right? “watch people die.” Watching Terri Schiavo starve to death must have ripped your guts out.

As an MNI employee I wish this site spent more time exposing the inept management and spreading insider news than wasting it on political debate. Nothing wrong with politics but it is the same old tired stuff. Boring.

This site is a great place for us working at McClatchy to check out the latest news, rumors and to vent. If it was not for that why bother coming here ? There are plenty of other political sites to waste time in.

It is understandable why people are concerned about health care brought to you by the people who are willing to kill an unborn or partially born baby because the mother decides it would be inconvenient to let it live.

Well, a lot of Wrinkled-Americans can be a bit inconvenient also. As they shuffle around with their walkers, sometimes forgetting that once they were the lead architect on a massive building project or a civil engineer that built bridges, they can be a burden too.

Yes, when you look at the uncaring track record of the left for human life, it is not a bad idea to question their agenda.

I agree with the poster about reporting more on incompetent McClatchy managers. But I do enjoy the Obama bashing!

8:01 AM, is unhappy that every word here is not written for the McClatchy employees. I am wondering why he/she thought this blog was so exclusive to employees. I have been coming here for a long time, and I do not work in journalism at all. I am disgusted with the media, and what they did to elect a fraud. I am following their self induced, suicide course into oblivion, with interest. I see hope for a new media, but the old corrupt news organs need to be stamped out entirely,IMO.

I like the comments by honest MNI employees, and I am interested in the information they share. It is the trolls that attack our host, and call the regular posters ‘idiots', that I can't stomach. They are trolls plants, useless troll plants. A few of them illustrate what fools the liberals are, but their gang action should not be allowed. I agree that the trolls attacked John from KC, and I really miss his posts. I hope he is just busy, and not disgusted with having to defend his every post.

The time has come, when writing the truth about Obarry, is no longer called ‘bashing.’ It is the truth the MSM would not report. We need a new word to describe the news our patriot journalists write today.

Troll 1:15 says trolls don’t try to ruin this blog, “they have tried to argue their opinions.”

Of course, coming on a blog to argue an opinion to prop up a loser like Obama to conservatives, is noble? Get real! Now and then I link to a blog thread of interest, and I read the comments to see what the regulars are saying. If the first five posts were garbage, I wouldn’t be there long. That is what the trolls try to do, per Obama and Soros rules, make a blog look inane. I don’t try to argue extremely opposite points of view, it would be arrogant and useless. Blogs can be a place for people of somewhat the same thinking to express their thoughts and offer ideas, but a complete overhaul of thought is not going to happen. Trolls waste their time and ours, but for them to attack the host and regular posters is what is truly inane.

Just before the Gannett Blog ended, a few employees thanked Jim, and spoke their disgust at the trolls that attacked him. Until liberals with some sense of decency left, shut these hopeless creatures down, this ACORN inspired tactic will limit their information as well. I think many employees saw that first hand, but I doubt it translated into the insanity they have embraced with their Obama vote.
