Update: this is crazy -- a reader says the pay is less than it was 20 years ago.
If I'm not mistaken, %7.25 IS minimum wage. But it's even more pathetic when you consider a starting clerking position was $8 an hour 20 years ago.
hehe, they're paying part time pressmen more than twice as much.
LOL McDonald's pays more than that to their illegal aliens.
6:42 is absolutely correct. I started at $7.62 in 1988 in Sacramento as a part-timer. Sad to see that the wage has gone DOWN after 20 years. Who would want to work at a newspaper anymore?
it's more than anyone reading this blog should be making
7:35 PM Except for you of course. Stupid troll.
Welcome to the McClatchy sweatshop of the future today for "copy editing and layout skills."
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram was already paying 25% less than the Dallas Morning News before McClatchy bought the paper. After all the wage and benefit cuts, we're headed toward the bottom of the pay scale as well. That will attract dedicated workers just like McDonald's. Do you want fries with that paper?
