Rumored: Wichita Eagle publisher will leave to become publisher at an east coast paper

Rumors...

I'm hearing rumbles that Pam Siddall (above), president and publisher of the Wichita Eagle, is leaving to become publisher at a McClatchy paper on the east coast.  Don't know if or when an official announcement will be made but the rumors are rampant.

I'll have more as the situation develops. That is all.

Update 11/01/09: an anonymous reader says Siddall told her staff she isn't leaving.
Siddall and Chisenhall shot down the rumor a few weeks ago in a newsroom meeting.
Update #2 1/04/10:  Did you believe Siddall's denial?... looks like she wasn't telling the truth... mere weeks after her denial comes this: Pam Siddall named publisher of The Birmingham News.

Now if only we could get rid of Rhonda Holman, Wichita's modern day Bitch of Belsen.

...Now if only we could get rid of Rhonda Holman, Wichita's modern day Bitch of Belsen...

Translation: She's a liberal, and John doesn't think that newspapers should employ liberals (or, for that matter, moderates and/or anyone he doesn't agree with).

Real translation: She's a vicious religious bigot who daily spews hatred against the *groups* she hates from her blog on the Eagle's site. Holman and former cartoonist Crowson are two of the biggest bigots in Kansas. Thanks for teeing it up for me.

Translation: She gives her opinion on religious groups' activities -- an opinion that John disagrees with.

Back to the rumor - Seems not even that with no details on where she's going. She might as well be going to the White House according to rumors... to do what? I don't know.

I'm wondering if John can provide an example of this "hate" he alleges she "daily spews". I've read her blog entries for the last two months, and I can't find anything remotely resembling "hate." A Google search brought up several of her older posts, but none with "hate."

2:08 I haven't read Rhonda for quite some time, but I do know from experience that if you've read her blog entries for the past two months and not seen anything you consider hateful you've just conveyed a lot more about yourself than you have about her.

No, John, you're the one whose conveyed something about yourself, since you said she "daily spews hatred against the *groups* she hates from her blog on the Eagle's site" but acknowledge that you haven't read her "for quite some time." You throw out accusations, but can't provide any evidence to back the accusations up.

Sorry, but we're past the point on this blog of wasting time trying to "prove" the obvious to some ignorant troll. I don't have to read Holman everyday to know what she publishes. I've seen it more times than I care to think about and I guarantee you she hasn't changed.

Your reading of her blogs is the moral equivalent of someone listening to someone from the KKK scream racial epithets at the top of their lungs and then denying that they're a racist.

Well, if you can't come up with some example, even from memory, you're obviously aware that what you call "hate" is actually just opinions you disagree with. And anything she might have written is undoubtedly nothing compared to the hate on this blog constantly every day, which you never seem to have a problem with. Not to mention spewing accusations which you never see the need to support with evidence.

Isn't it interesting that J.A. chooses to use facist terms to label Rhonda? Quite twisted, really, considering that she is the opposite of what he says about her. But that is the heart of propaganda, eh?

Rhonda Holman is without a doubt one of the most offensive people that I have ever worked with. Not because of her rabid hate of anything not totally dedicated to socialism, but because she is probably the dumbest bitch I have ever had to listen too.

If you ever want to see the perfect couple, her and Mike Hendricks would be it. Two peas in a pod. Roxie can play traffic cop and make sure everyone in the dacha take nothing but left hand turns.

From Ballet Critic to know it all leftist editorialist. What a qualifier.

You've said you read it and found none. Clearly it would be a waste of time trying to convince you when you share her bigoted views. Now let me quote the operative part of my previous post.

"Sorry, but we're past the point on this blog of wasting time trying to "prove" the obvious to some ignorant troll."

PS, if you're interested in proof, prove she isn't. What were the topics of her blogs for the last 60 days.

As I said, a modern day Bitch of Belsen.

LK, by opposite, do you mean Stalinist as opposed to Hitlerian?

Come on boy, prove me wrong. What were the topics of her blogs for the past 60 days?

Here they are, John, since you're too lazy to look them up yourself, or (more likely) aren't interested in doing so because they show that you're full of it. John or any anyone else: Cite one example of "hate" in her posts if you can.

One rumor is that Siddall will go to the Miami Herald and that Eagle editor Sherry Chisenhall will become publisher of the Eagle.

Any more info on this rumor?

Siddall and Chisenhall shot down the rumor a few weeks ago in a newsroom meeting. They said they don't know where the rumor started. The Eagle's doing pretty well despite the aviation industry tanking. The paper and the town are used to the ups and downs, so the paper will ride it out with a shell of a staff covering a three-county metro area.
