Mainstream Media: The Devil Wears Pravda (Big Hollywood)

In 1998, Matt Drudge made his big mark breaking the Monica Lewinsky scandal, which Newsweek had buried to protect President Clinton.

Think Obama’s Tiger Beat would have done that for Bush?

It has only gone way downhill since into Soviet-era Pravda territory.

The MSM’s modus operandi today is identical, and I don’t say that lightly. But having listened to Radio Moscow broadcasts on ham radio for years during the Cold War era, combined with some Naval Intelligence training and research into the subject, I deconstructed the Soviets’ propaganda MO down to five simple canons.

“1. Always make the State and its political leadership appear infallible.

2. Promote the State’s ideology and official policies wherever possible.

3. Demonize political adversaries and dissidents as enemies of the State.

4. Suppress news that reflects poorly on the State or its leadership.

5. If bad news cannot be suppressed, attack and discredit the source””

Fringe media flatuence. Fox Ad Driving the Obamunist Media Crazy
(The Washington Post)

A provocative full-page newspaper ad from Fox News drew heated reactions from its rivals today and one demand that The Washington Post apologize for running it.

Over photos of protesters gathering for an "anti-tax" rally in Washington last Saturday, the ad asked:

"How Did ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC and CNN Miss This Story?"

The problem with the ad is that the other networks indeed covered the protest, which -- like similar demonstrations across the country -- were heavily promoted by Fox, especially talk show host Glenn Beck.

The ad appeared Friday in the Wall Street Journal and New York Post, both owned by Fox's parent company, and in The Washington Post.

ABC spokesman Jeffrey Schneider described the ad as "outrageous and false."

NBC spokeswoman Lauren Kapp said that "the facts . . . prove it wrong."

CNN spokeswoman Edie Emery called the ad "blatantly false."

ACORN Registration Forms Found In Apartment During Drug Bust. “A search of a northeast Albuquerque apartment as part of a drug investigation led to the discovery of about a dozen voter registration forms, police said.

Al Qaeda operative had $50k in unsecured loans from bailout banks
(mypetjawa.mu.nu)

It seems the admitted Afghan Al-Qaeda operative currently being questioned by the FBI for a possible attack against NY targets, Najibullah Zazi, had obtained unsecured credit cards amounting to $50,000 by the time he declared bankruptcy this past March.

Between 2005 and 2008, he opened credit card accounts with Bank of America, Chase, Capital One, Discover and Citibank and ran up a debt of more than $50,000. When he filed for bankruptcy, Zazi said he hadn't worked in two months.

Fla. lawmaker tried to get funding for ACORN while wife was lobbyist (St. Petersburg Times)

A Democratic legislator from Orlando tried to get $50,000 in state funding for the controversial group ACORN in the 2007 legislative session, the same time his wife was working as a lobbyist for the organization, records show.

Rep. Scott Randolph was seeking money for the Central Florida ACORN Institute Financial Justice Center, which provides tax preparation services for the poor.

Connecting the Insidious Obama and ACORN Nexus (Flopping Aces)

Barack Obama’s ties to ACORN are not incidental nor are they casual.

Bill O’Reilly displayed his fundamental ignorance on the matter last night when he pooh-poohed the notion of an Obama tie simply because “ACORN previously worked” for his campaign.

snip

The money given to ACORN through one of its front companies–CSI–was not a simple clerical error.

The Obama Presidential campaign deliberately tried to hide its relationship to ACORN and funneling almost $1 million dollars to ACORN by using a group with no experience doing the task that it was ostensibly hired to do.

The story is pretty simple–it is about Citizen Services Inc., a Nigerian director of CSI living in Minnesota and false campaign financing report.

I first wrote this story last August. We passed this information first to David Brown, a reporter in Pittsburgh, who broke the story publicly in early August.

So far the mainstream press has failed to investigate this matter.

For ACORN, video is only latest crisis (MSNBC)

WASHINGTON - The liberal political organizing group ACORN faced internal chaos and allegations of financial mismanagement and fraud long before two young conservatives embarrassed the group with undercover videos made at field offices in Washington and across the country.

Internal ACORN documents show an organization in turmoil as last year's presidential election approached, with a board torn over how to handle embezzlement by the founder's brother and growing concern that donor money and pension funds had been plundered in the insider scheme.

Minutes from a meeting ACORN held in Los Angeles last summer reveal a group then on the brink of financial collapse.

"Currently owe over $800k to IRS," the minutes note. "Haven't paid medical bills of over $300k. We are essentially 'broke' nationally and lots of offices are struggling."

Some top ACORN officials tried to shield the scheme, which involved Dale Rathke, the brother of ACORN founder Wade Rathke.

"Leadership has no faith in staff. Wade betrayed them," the minutes said.

Congress, Obama team up to kill marriage protections

Nearly 100 members of the U.S. House are working in lockstep with the Obama administration to try to eliminate protections for traditional marriage in the United States with the "Respect for Marriage Act" that has just been introduced in Congress.

H.R. 3567 was introduced just days ago by U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-New York, and more than 90 co-sponsors.

"This legislation would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a 1996 law which discriminates against lawfully married same-sex couples," Nadler said in a statement on his website.

ACORN's Recent History With Prostitution (Campaign Spot @ NRO)

Perhaps we shouldn't have been completely surprised by the videos we've seen of ACORN workers offering assistance to prostitution rings.

I mean, there was Cincinnati . . .
Shari Bell, 41, of Walnut Hills was arrested Wednesday night by Cincinnati police, reported WCPO, NewsChannel5's Cincinnati sister station.

Bell allegedly approached an undercover officer's car in Evanston and offered him sex for money. Police also said they found a crack pipe in Bell's coat pocket.

Bell told police she works for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN)at the time of her arrest.

And then there was Cleveland:
An Ohio man who cast an illegal early ballot after being caught registering to vote several times with ACORN is a longtime scammer who was arrested last year — as a woman.

The bizarre tale of Darnell Nash — aka Serina "Sexy Slay" Gibbs (no relation?) — came to light after Cuyahoga County election officials charged him with voter fraud and this week turned him in to prosecutors.

It turns out that Nash, 24, who has a criminal record as a man, is now a transsexual escort who claims to make $150 an hour turning tricks as the self-proclaimed "Queen of Cleveland Gender Benders."

Maybe this really is just another day at the office for the folks at ACORN . . .

UPDATE: Then there's Milwaukee:
At least seven felons convicted of crimes including cocaine possession and robbery were recruited by a liberal group to register voters in Milwaukee, raising fears they may have committed voter fraud . . . Along with the seven felons, court records show one special registration deputy has a pending felony charge for heroin possession and another is facing a misdemeanor prostitution charge.
A third was convicted of misdemeanor prostitution.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Consider the history of New Mexico branch:

The head of a community reform organization faces sentencing after pleading no contest to two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor in Torrance County.

Ben McGartland of Albuquerque, head of the New Mexico chapter of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, was charged in July in state District Court in Estancia with 10 counts, including second-degree criminal sexual penetration of a minor, three counts of criminal sexual contact, attempt to commit a felony, kidnapping, concealing identity, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

The ACORN Scandal Enters Virginia's Statewide Races (SEIU Ties) National Review

The ACORN Scandal Enters Virginia's Statewide Races
I think the answer is going to be "no," but I suppose it's worth asking.

Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Pat Mullins today called on all three statewide candidates on the Democratic ticket, plus all relevant Democratic political entities, to return all contributions received from the Service Employees International Union, a big labor group closely affiliated with the scandal-plagued organization ACORN.

SEIU President Andy Stern sits on ACORN’s advisory council. Combined, SEIU has contributed nearly $450,000 to Democratic candidates or Democratic Party committees in 2008 and 2009.

Oh, pish-posh, I can hear you saying. The scandal is with ACORN, not with their office-mate SEIU.

The Virginia GOP does remind us of some other ties:

1. ACORN's biggest union backer, SEIU, gave more than $4 million to the community organization and its affiliates from 2006 to 2007, according to Department of Labor filings.

2. SEIU president Andy Stern sits on ACORN's advisory council.

3. One SEIU local, the Illinois Homecare Workers and Home Childcare Providers, sprouted from ACORN's organizing efforts and pays rent to ACORN.

4. SEIU locals 100 and 880 are identified as allied organizations on ACORN's website.

5. U.S. Department of Labor LM-2's (financial disclosure forms) point to over $600,000 in transactions between SEIU locals 100 and 880 and other ACORN operations.

6. ACORN founder S. Wade Rathke referred to mega-union SEIU 880 as "one of the pillars of the ACORN Family."

Obama fudging another health-care horror story? (Yes, Barry Lies Again) HotAir

In her speech yesterday, Michelle Obama told a story to which every parent can relate — the moment that a child may have a severe illness that could kill them or damage them for life (via JammieWearingFool):

"I will never forget the time eight years ago when Sasha was four months that she would not stop crying.

snip

But he (DR) told us that she COULD HAVE meningitis. So we were terrified.

Things worked out because Sasha got immediate attention, and turned out NOT TO HAVE meningitis after all, as the New York Times reports

Snip:

Maybe someone should have told Mrs. Obama’s husband.

In a speech to nurses just eight days earlier, Barack Obama told the story quite a bit differently:

"When our youngest daughter, Sasha, (THE BIG LIE) WAS DIAGNOSED WITH meningitis when she was just three months old, it was one of the scariest moments of my life.

Alexander issued a statement saying that "Eighteen of the administration’s 32 czars hold new positions that did not exist in previous administrations and were not authorized by law.

These czars are unconfirmed by the Senate, unavailable for questioning, and unaccountable to the American people through their elected representatives."

HSBC sues accused Democratic fund-raiser in New York (Obama and Hillary Ties) Yahoo

A fund-raiser for Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and other Democrats who was charged last month with defrauding Citigroup Inc is being sued by HSBC for deceiving it into lending him $100 million.

The lawsuit filed in New York State Supreme Court in early September accused private equity firm head Hassan Nemazee, 59, of engaging in an elaborate scheme to make HSBC Bank USA believe that its loan was secured by collateral in the form of U.S. Treasury Notes when it was not.

Nemazee, who sits on the board of the Iranian American Political Action Committee, typically donates more than $100,000 annually to Democratic political candidates.

He is listed as one of the top "bundlers" of contributions to Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, according to OpenSecrets, org, a website run by the Center for Responsive Politics research group.

Pa. Dems Unanimously Protect ACORN
BillLawrenceOnline.com

Betcha you didn't know the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania gives tax dollars to groups that:

--Actively manage a political campaign

--Solicit or handle political contributions

--Solicit votes

--Endorse or oppose candidates

--Circulate partisan nominating petitions

--Organize partisan voter registration drives

Well it does and an attempt by State Rep. Steve Barrar (R-160) to fix those things was was defeated, yesterday, after Democrats in the Pennsylvania House voted unanimously not to even consider the motion which would have amended the state Fiscal Code.

The vote was 102-94 to protect ACORN.

Are You Smarter Than A Fifth-Columnist? IT'S McCLATCHY ALL THE WAY (Irishexaminerusa.com)

The disciples of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, however, who were firmly entrenched in Hollywood, the mainstream media, and academia, cleverly adapted to an agenda that appealed to the naïve.

Under the guise of compassion for the afflicted, promoting environmental and ecological responsibility, and animal rights, the Communist Manifesto morphed into the progressive movement.

The goals, however, remained the same: the overthrow of our capitalist free enterprise system and obtaining control over our economy.

On Jan. 10, 1963, Rep. A.S. Herlong Jr. of Florida introduced into the Congressional Record excerpts of a book written by a former FBI agent, Cleon Skousen.

It was called "The Naked Communist" and the excerpts were "current communist goals."

Forty of the 45 goals listed have been achieved today. They include:

* Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

* Present homosexuality, degeneracy, and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."

* Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with social religion. Emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."

* Discredit the family as an institution.

* Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

* Eliminate prayer or any phrase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

ACORNS stay on branch; Brooklyn staffers in sex sting avoid ax (corruption no big deal) NY POST

Two Brooklyn ACORN employees, Volda Albert and Milagros Rivera, videotaped helping a fake pimp and prostitute launder money have been suspended without pay "....until the outcome of [Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes'] investigation," NY ACORN Housing Corp spokesman Jonathan Rosen said.

NY Gov Paterson put a 30-day hold on all state contracts with ACORN. NY ACORN president, Pat Boone said: "We are confident that every state dollar received went directly to combating NY's foreclosure crisis" and helping New Yorkers get tax credits.

ACORN, Kanye West and the Hierarchy of Multiculturalism
by Evan Coyne Maloney
Excerpt:
So how could the major media fail to hold ACORN to account all these years?
I have my pet theory.
Political correctness has been slowly rotting the establishment media to its core, to the point where few professional journalists would dare launch a serious investigation into the exalted Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now. Why? Simple: according to the tenets of political correctness, the racial makeup of the communities being “organized” automatically confers the presumption of moral superiority upon ACORN. So all those nasty rumors about ACORN must be no more than lies spread by racist propagandists.

How predictible can they get? Every Fringe-stream media TV news website this morning has a photo of Obama in his chair and speaking to each White House correspondent about health care reform. Except Fox News. Another win for Fox News!
