This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

OBAMA WINS NOBLE PEACE PRIZE! SORRY, RIGHT-WING NUT JOBS, YOUR HERO BUSH WILL JUST HAVE TO SETTLE FOR A LIFETIME OF KICKING COWPIES IN CRAWFORD, DALLAS, OR WHEREVER HE IS.
The Nobel Peace Prize!! Wow. Now BO can hang one over his fireplace mantle just like Yassar Arafat in 1994. The Prize lost its credibility years ago and today is just another politically correct trinket the true believers give each other. Need I mention 2007 Prize winner Al Gore?
If one hates America, decries free enterprise and capitalism, apologizes up the wazoo because America is so evil, done nothing in foreign policy, allowed Iran and North Korea to proliferate and maintain a nuclear arsenal, while trying to reduce ours, then you win the Nobel Peace Prize.
Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm!
Barack Hussein Obama, Al Gore, Jimmuh Carter...all fit the above description and have each won the award.
Senior leader of Pakistan’s Jamaat-e-Islami party calls Obama’s peace prize win an “embarrasing joke.”
Taliban spokesman: [Obama] has done nothing for peace in Afghanistan. [..] We condemn this year’s peace prize as unjust.
Bogus AP polled 45% unemployed and made up Party ID split numbers to “prove” Obamacare gains support
(The Collins Report)
When CNN crowed over AP’s new poll claiming Obamacare is gaining support it demanded a closer look.
The latest AP/Roper Obamacare poll is a clumsy bogus attempt to fool Americans that support for Obamacare is gaining support.
The poll’s internals and methodology are skewed in an unsupportable tilt toward Democrats. Amazingly it used 45% of unemployed “Americans” as respondents.
Just How Much Did Conde Nast Lose? (09 Rev Minus $1 Billion)Newsweek
After months of speculation, the carnage came to Condé Nast earlier this week. The company, one of the nation's three biggest magazine publishers, announced it would close four magazines, including Gourmet, one of the industry's most iconic publications.
A NEWSWEEK analysis of industry data provides new evidence of the financial toll that drove that decision: based on estimates of publishing data, Condé Nast could see its ad revenue drop by $1 billion in 2009.
Former Jersey City Mayoral Candidate Indicted on Corruption Charges (DEMOCRAT)NBC New York
A former Jersey City mayoral candidate and his brother have been indicted on corruption charges.
Tuesday's indictment comes on the same day the president of Jersey City's municipal council temporarily stepped aside and another council member pleaded guilty to corruption. Louis Manzo a former candidate for mayor, and his brother, Ronald, who acted as his political adviser, are charged with taking $27,500 in corrupt political contributions.
Louis Manzo had previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2004 to 2008.
Investment adviser admits to state pension fraud - (New Mexico AGAIN!)
Santa Fe New Mexican
An investment executive who pleaded guilty to securities fraud in a New York public pension fund "pay-to-play" scandal admitted he recommended New Mexico investments from "politically connected individuals" in this state, even though he knew some of those investments weren't in New Mexico's best economic interest.
New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday that guilty pleas by Saul Meyer of Dallas-based Aldus Equity include "fraud in investment transactions relating to public pension funds in New Mexico."
Cuomo declined to say who those politically connected people are.
One politically connected person who benefited from some of Aldus' investment recommendations was Marc Correra, who shared in at least $22 million in finder fees from New Mexico investments. He is the son of Anthony Correra, a longtime friend and fund-raiser for Gov. Bill Richardson.
"The Governor's Office is not aware of any activity outlined by the Attorney General of New York. As we have previously explained, Governor Richardson never spoke with Marc Correra about any state investments, and the governor never had any personal contact with Saul Meyer."
Update: House Dems move to quash Remove Rangel resolution, 243-156Michelle Malkin
Rangel dodges the bullet again with a little help from his corruption-enabling friends.
Final vote tabling Carter’s resolution to remove Rangel from W&M chairmanship: 243-156. 19 voted present. 3 REPUBLICANS joined the Democrats.
EXCLUSIVE: Man Slated to be Obama’s Top Immigration Agent Investigated for Embezzlement (Debbie Schlussel)
DebbieSchlussel.com has learned that Robert Schoch, the Special Agent in Charge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is under investigation for alleged embezzlement and/or misuse of ICE funds used in undercover operations.
Mr. Schoch and the Los Angeles Deputy Special Agent in charge, Jennifer Silliman, were escorted from the ICE federal offices in Long Beach, California, and had their badges and guns taken from them (standard procedure when an agent is under investigation and put on leave).
They were both put on administrative leave pending a continuing investigation. A search warrant was reportedly executed on Agent Schoch’s home, and sources say his computers from both his LAX and Long Beach offices were seized.
Normally, this would be inside baseball stuff. But Schoch was slated by Obama Administration officials running ICE to be Director of Investigations of ICE, meaning that he would be running and overseeing all ICE investigations worldwide.
His appointment to that position was imminent, even as he was reportedly being investigated by ICE’s Office of Professional Responsibility and, reportedly, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles.
Former Pittston Area superintendent sentenced to 13 months (Fed corruption probe)
Ross Scarantino was "Mr. Pittston Area," a superintendent wholly dedicated to the school district's 3,400 students, according to 80 supporters who pleaded for leniency in letters written to the federal judge who sentenced him on bribery charges Thursday.
But Mr. Scarantino's betrayal of that reputation persuaded U.S. District Judge Thomas I. Vanaskie to send him to prison for 13 months - two months longer than the sentence called for under federal sentencing guidelines and court precedent.
"What you worked so hard to create was destroyed by your acts," Judge Vanaskie told Mr. Scarantino. "You were 'Mr. Pittston Area' and you thought you could benefit from that."
Mr. Scarantino, 64, who pleaded guilty to accepting a $5,000 bribe from a district contractor whose name has not been released by prosecutors, is the first of 15 defendants charged in a wide-ranging Luzerne County government corruption probe to be sentenced.
"The culture of corruption that is being unveiled here is one we have to root out," Judge Vanaskie said.
Republican Challenger Upsets Three-Term Mayor Chavez; No Runoff Needed (The Albuquerque Journal)
State Rep. Richard Berry scored an impressive victory Tuesday with an outright win over three-term incumbent Martin Chávez to become Albuquerque's next mayor.
"We had a message that resonated with voters in Albuquerque, and we worked hard," said Berry, a general contractor and two-term Republican state representative who campaigned as a "common-sense" business owner with conservative themes.
... Berry will become the first Republican mayor elected in Albuquerque since ... 1981, joining a City Council that now holds a 5-to-4 Republican majority.
Media Bias on Campus PATTERICO
USA Today has this story from a campus radio station in Jonesboro, Arkansas:
“The news director of a university-owned radio station referred to one of Sen. Blanche Lincoln’s opponents as a “nimrod” in a note sent from his state e-mail account.
Greg Chance of KASU-FM thought he was sending the e-mail to Lincoln’s office. Instead, he sent it to the Republican candidate he was criticizing.”
KASU is a “100,000 watt public radio station broadcasting to Northeast Arkansas, Southeast Missouri and West Tennessee from the campus of Arkansas State University-Jonesboro.”
Rep. Bachman: Dems Will Start Funding ACORN Again at End of October (GatewayPundit)
It was all a show...Rep. Michelle Bachman told a radio host today that the federal government will start funding the pimp and prostitution supporting ACORN organization again at month's end.
Via Breitbart: Rep. Michele Bachmann appears on the Chris Baker Show to break some startling news. Federal funding for ACORN, once thought to be indefinitely suspended, is set to resume at the end of October.
O’Reilly Nails MSNBC for Misogyny; Bachmann: 'I Have Personal Stalkers, Only They Have TV Shows'
Over the past several days, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., has made a series appearances pushing for action against the disgraced organization ACORN.
However, in an appearance on Fox News Oct. 7 "The O'Reilly Factor," host Bill O'Reilly asked Bachmann about a trend others have noticed -why do so many media figures on the left have such a fixation on criticizing her or former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin?
"You are a pretty interesting politician, congresswoman," O'Reilly said. "You are second to Sarah Palin in far-left angst. You know, Sarah Palin leads the league, no doubt. But they're after you now. We hear it all the time, you know Michele Bachmann, she is this and she is that. How did you get into that wheelhouse?"
Michelle Bashman says, "I'm certainly not going to fear the likes of Keith Olbermann."
Via Breitbart, Bachman added this on the Obama-supporting network:
"Quite honestly, I don't even know anything about MSNBC. It's not a network that I watch and most of the American people agree with that assessment. They aren't watching it either. And that's why Fox's ratings - I mean it's like CNN, CNBC, MSNBC combined. I think Fox even exceeded one of the major networks last week. They're on the ascendency."
Too funny. No wonder they hate her. She speaks the truth.
ACORN Voter Registration Subject to Partisan Discrimination (Via Atlas Shrugs):
In February of 2008, Fathiyyah Muhammad of Jacksonville, Florida, heard that ACORN was paying three dollars for each vote you could register.
Fatiyyah claims she registered voters for Acorn there (at three dollars each), but that the group threw out her votes and fired her when she brought them GOP registrations.
...Fathiyyah Muhammad is a Republican who voted for Obama
OMG! That takes me completely by surprise. Shocking!
AP, News Corp. bosses tell search engines to pay up
"We will no longer tolerate the disconnect between people who devote themselves -- at great human and economic cost -- to gathering news of public interest and those who profit from it without supporting it," says Associated Press CEO Tom Curley. Rupert Murdoch adds: "The aggregators and plagiarists will soon have to pay a price for the co-opting of our content."
What Obama Should Do With His Nobel Peace Prize
Mickey Kaus has the perfect solution.
Turn it down! Politely decline. Say he's honored but he hasn't had the time yet to accomplish what he wants to accomplish. Result: He gets at least the same amount of glory--and helps solve his narcissism problem and his Fred Armisen ('What's he done?') problem, demonstrating that he's uncomfortable with his reputation as a man overcelebrated for his potential long before he's started to realize it.
The Nobel Prize for literature goes to...Ozzie Osbourne!!!
And the Nobel Prize for medicine goes to...Dr. Phil!!!!

Comment: absurd decision on Obama makes a mockery of the Nobel peace prize
Huh???!!!!! Even pro-Obama
press is stunned by Nobel decision
by Byron York
From the Washington Post this morning:Obama is the third sitting U.S. president--and the first in 90 years--to win the prestigious peace prize. His predecessors won during their second White House terms, however, and after significant achievements in their diplomacy. Woodrow Wilson was awarded the price in 1919, after helping to found the League of Nations and shaping the Treatise of Versailles; and Theodore Roosevelt was the recipient..

Obama's Nobel Peace Prize: The Last Thing He Needs
Time.com - Nancy Gibbs
At this moment many Americans are longing for a president who is more bully, less pulpit. The president who leased his immense inaugural good will to the hungry appropriators writing the stimulus bill, who has not stopped negotiating health care reform except to say what is non-negotiable, whose solicitude for the wheelers and dealers who drove the financial system into a ditch leaves the rest of us wondering who has our back, has always shown great promise, said the right things, affirmed every time he opens his mouth that he understands the fears we face and the hopes we hold....
Embarrassing for the Nobel committe and for Obama: Obama had been in office for two weeks by the Peace Prize nomination deadline.
Nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize CLOSED 12 days after Obama took office!!! The guy must have tore it up on the peace front in those 12 days to get nominated. What a load of steaming crappola. If there was ever a moment to consider a global conspiracy to promote Obamaism, this is it.
What's the date for McClatchy's third quarter "profits" report? I wanna be braced and ready.
Low class: the State Department graciously acknowledged Obama's award by mocking the previous president: "From our standpoint, you know, we think that this gives us a sense of momentum … when the United States has accolades tossed its way, rather than shoes," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters on Friday.
