The Most Unbelievable Clip You’ll See All Week PATTERICO

Democrat Senator Tom Carper defiantly saying that of course he’s not going to read the health care legislation, because everybody knows it’s incomprehensible.

So why would you bother to read that gibberish when nobody can understand it anyway?

You think I’m exaggerating?
I don’t expect to actually read the legislative language, because reading the legislative language is among the more confusing things I’ve ever read in my life. . . .

When you get into the legislative language, Sen. Conrad actually read some of it, several pages of it, the other day, and I don’t think anybody had a clue, including people who had served on this committee for decades, what he was talking about.

Making Health Care “Pretty Clear” PATTERICO

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs explained at today’s Press Briefing why a monetary penalty for failing to purchase health care is not a tax:

QUESTION: It’s called a tax in the House bill and the Finance Committee bill. It’s referred to as an excise tax.

MR. GIBBS: Well, I would — maybe the analogy on the speeding isn’t —I think it’s pretty clear.”

So choosing to speed and getting a ticket is the same as choosing to breathe without health care and getting a health care ticket? Or not, because maybe it’s not a good analogy. But it’s still “pretty clear” because everyone at the White House agrees it shouldn’t be called a tax, okay?

Glad we got that taken care of.

Obama's "Safe Schools Czar" Praised NAMBLA Founder, Too (GatewayPundit)

The Washiington Examiner has the latest on President Obama's safe schools czar Kevin Jennings.

Apparently, Jennings is on record praising the founder of the North American Association for Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA), Harry Hay.

Regular Folks United reported:
For anyone who spends even an hour on the internet looking into Jennings’ speeches and writings, his nonchalant attitude about an older homosexual man having sex with a boy should not be a surprise.

What is surprising is that no one is mentioning reports that Jennings publicly stated that he was inspired by one of the biggest promoters of pedophilia in the country—Harry Hay.

Hay actively promoted sex between men and boys and supported the North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA). Transcripts of a GLSEN conference in NYC on October 25, 1997 indicate that Jennings said, “one of the people that always inspired me is Harry Hay.” Jennings also edited a book called Becoming Visible:

A Reader in Gay and Lesbian History for High School and College Students which included a biographical sketch on Harry Hay.

One of GLSEN’s Education Department resources also lists a work on Harry Hay.
This follows the news that Kevin Jennings admitted to hiding pedophilia from school officials.

He sounds like just the person you want to have directing school policy, huh?

National outrage growing over appointment of "safe schools czar"
(massresistance.org)

This could become even bigger than the recent Van Jones situation. The momentum is starting to get that strong. Maybe the most unbelievable and outrageous Obama appointment -- of the many outrageous Obama appointments -- is Kevin Jennings to become the national "safe schools" czar -- running a multi-million dollar program without Senate confirmation.

Jennings is the ultra-homosexual activist teacher who founded and ran the national group Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).

As may of you know, GLSEN targets schoolchildren with homosexual propaganda. It's the group that organizes homosexual clubs in high schools and middle schools across the country. And under Jennings' direct leadership, GLSEN done some hideous things to kids in Massachusetts, including the Fistgate conference and the homosexual Little Black Book - which we exposed and publicized -- as well as the various "gay days" and "transgender days" and similar activities in high schools, middle schools and even elementary schools. GLSEN also uses "anti-bullying" programs as a foot in the door for homosexual and transgender indoctrination of even the youngest children.

Top Democrat Donors Caught Up In Embezzlement Scheme

Two Iowa lesbian activists who donated approximately $150,000 in the 2006 and 2008 federal election cycles, all (but one) to Democratic candidates, are caught up in a reported $5.9 million embezzlement scheme.

Phyllis Stevens was arrested in Las Vegas last Friday on charges of money laundering and wire fraud after the exposure of the scheme by her employer, insurance giant Aviva USA.

Her partner, Marla Stevens, has been sued by Aviva for benefiting from the embezzlement because the money was alledgedly deposited in an account shared by both women.

Marla Stevens has not been criminally charged, however.
According to CampaignMoney.com, Phyllis Stevens donated about $80,000 to federal candidates and committees in the 2006 and 2008 cycles--all to Democrat candidates and Democrat leaning committees.
Campaign Money reports her partner, Marla Stevens, donated about $72,000 to federal candidates and committees in the 2006 and 2008 cycles--all to Democrat candidates and Democrat leaning committees with the exception of one Green party candidate.

The Iowa Republican reports the Stevens duo was heavily involved in Iowa politics and speculates that more of the embezzled loot was funneled in to tax-exempt political organizations that do not have to disclose donor information.

The Des Moines Register has details here. The paper reports the women made around $175,000 in state and federal political donations.

The EdgeBoston has the lesbian politics angle here. The Edge reports Phyllis Stevens was chair of Marriage Equality USA and Marla Stevens was the founder of LGBT Fairness.

Obama Political Director Gaspard Worked as Operative for ACORN Fronts, SEIU (NLPC)

With each passing week, the shadowy radical political network that has made possible the career of President Barack Obama is being dragged into the sunlight.

And almost all paths of this network, directly or indirectly, lead to or from the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), a virtual corruption machine of the Democratic Party Left. One of the more disturbing aspects of the White House-ACORN connection is that the White House political affairs director is one Patrick Gaspard.

Obama's White House ACORN Operative Fined $775,000 For Election Violations- Used Rapists & Burglars in Door-to-Door Registration Drives (GatewayPundit)

So where does a far left political operative land after his organization is fined $775,000 for election violations that included hiring rapists and burglars to register voters?

Inside the Obama White House, of course.

Obama's ACORN operative in the White House Patrick Gaspard is helping shape domestic policy--

In 2008 Barack Obama hired Patrick Gaspard, a top official of the powerhouse New York-based healthcare workers union 1199, an SEIU affiliate and the largest local union in the country.

In 2004, Patrick Gaspard Served As National Field Director For 527 Organization America Coming Together, a group that was later fined $775,000 in civil penalties by the federal government.

ACT hired dozens of felons some convicted of sex offenses, assault and burglary – to conduct door-to-door voter registration drives in Missouri and at least two other swing states.

America Coming Together employed felons as voter canvassers in major metropolitan areas in Missouri, Florida, Ohio and perhaps in other states among the 17 it targeted in its drive.

Some of the felons lived in halfway houses, and at least four returned to prison.

Seven of the ACT employees lived at Missouri halfway houses and at least four returned to prison. Because of this the Missouri Department Of Corrections banished ACT from its pool of potential employers for parolees, saying, "They did not want offenders handing sensitive personal information." The names of two of the ACT employees even matched those of people convicted of murder and rape.

ACT was also good at getting the dead voters signed up in time for the election.

So after his organization was fined $750,000 for election violations that included hiring rapists and burglars (and possibly murderers) to canvass for his far left group, Patrick Gaspard was hired into the Obama White House.
Of course, none of this surprises us.

By the way-- Democratic candidate for US Senate Robin Carnahan employs a former ACT staffer-- Laura Egerdal as her communications director.

ACORN Hired People "Still In Prison" Convicted of Identity Theft For Canvassing Voters (Video) GatewayPundit

Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller, a democrat, told Eric Shawn on FOX News that ACORN was hiring convicts still in prison -CONVICTED OF IDENTITY THEFT- for canvassing voters.

Ross said that by executing a search warrant at ACORN headquarters in Nevada the authorities were able to substantiate charges and have a very solid case against ACORN.

They believe they can prove that it's not just a few bad apples it went much higher up in the organization.

Ross believes that ACORN and the regional director should be held accountable for the criminal activity that took place in the state.

Acorn Housing Fails to Win U.S. Funding (WSJ)

Acorn Housing Corp. received no funding in the latest allocations of federal money for a program that provides counseling to distressed mortgage borrowers.

Last year, the Chicago-based nonprofit was allocated federal funds that could total as much as about $25 million under the program, known as National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling.
That money is paid out as the counseling is performed.

ACORN Donations Dwindle In Wake Of Videos (NPR)

ACORN, the troubled anti-poverty group, is fighting to survive in the aftermath of an undercover video scandal. Its government funding is threatened, and so is the money it receives from foundations and other donors.

ACORN is fighting back, but that is also draining resources.
ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis earlier this week made a simple plea in a letter to donors: "We need your help to survive."

Taxpayer-Owned Citigroup Still Bankrolling ACORN (NLPC)

Now that taxpayers are Citigroup’s biggest shareholder, owning 36% of common stock, it is time for the company and its foundation to end its relationship with ACORN and its affiliates.

Citigroup has received $45 billion in taxpayer TARP funds. In addition, taxpayers are on the hook for the lion’s share of losses on the company’s $335 billion loan portfolio.

According to the 2008 annual tax return of the Citi Foundation, it provided the ACORN Institute, Inc. with grants of $500,000 for each of the years 2006, 2007 and 2008, for a total of $1.5 million.

Stunner. Dems Vote Down ID Requirement for Immigrant Health Care (GatewayPundit)

They did it again.

Democrats just voted down a photo ID requirement for immigrant health care.

The Hill Blog reported:
Senate Finance Committee Democrats rejected a proposed requirement that immigrants prove their identity with photo identification when signing up for federal healthcare programs.

Finance Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said that current law and the healthcare bill under consideration are too lax and leave the door open to illegal immigrants defrauding the government using false or stolen identities to obtain benefits.

Grassley's amendment was beaten back 10-13 on a party-line vote.

The bill, authored by committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.), would require applicants to verify their names, places of birth and Social Security numbers.

In addition, legal immigrants would have to wait five years, as under current law, after obtaining citizenship or legal residency to access federal healthcare benefits such as Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program or receive tax credits or purchase insurance through the exchange created by the legislation.

But the would not require them to show a photo ID, such as a drivers license. Without that requirement, the bill "remains dearly lacking when it comes to identification," Grassley said. "Frankly, I'm very perplexed as to why anyone would oppose this amendment," he said.
It looks like Joe Wilson was right all along.

The dem's health care bill will cover illegal immigrants.

ACORN Plans Massive Layoffs
Big Government.com

A credible source claims the embattled left-wing advocacy group ACORN is poised to announce massive staff layoffs but an ACORN spokesman denies this is the case.

A credible source close to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now revealed that the activist network intends to lay off all staff members operating out of its New Orleans headquarters.

All information provided by the source to this reporter in the past has turned out to be correct.

However, ACORN spokesman Scott Levenson of the public relations firm The Advance Group in New York City said the source was incorrect.

In an interview Friday afternoon with Levenson said (referring to BigGovernment.com), “You guys just can’t get it right. You’re wrong again.”

When pressed to elaborate, Levenson declined to do so.

The 'Kill Granny' Bill: Senate bid to sock elder-care (NY Post)

AS the health-reform bills move through Congress, the prognosis for Medicare pa tients gets worse and worse.

The Senate Finance Committee bill (generally called the Baucus bill, after Chairman Max Baucus) robs the elderly to cover the uninsured -- like snatching purses from little old ladies.

The House bills already cut future funding for Medicare by $500 billion over the next decade. The Baucus bill would slash a similar amount, just when 30 percent more people enter the program as baby boomers turn 65.

The Baucus bill also puts new limits on what doctors can do for patients in Medicare:

Cap-and-conceal (another Olympic-sized flop)NY POST

The Obama admin just blew the whistle on........itself: The Treasury Dept reported Team Obama’s claims about the “nominal” costs of its cap-and-trade bill aren’t really so nominal......and they knew it all along. Cap and-trade (companies buy “allowances” for carbon emissions) is far more expensive than advertised......

Treasury puts the actual cost at some $200B a year — or $1,761 per household......a figure very close to the $1,870 estimated by the Heritage Foundation.

This was kept secret and directly violates Obama’s vows of transparency. It needs to die in the Senate. More troubling is the wholesale breaking of Obama’s vows of no new taxes and transparency....after only one year in office.

OLYMPIC REJECTION: OBAMA LOSES HIS WEAPON OF MASS DISTRACTION. (Root For America)

Obama Desperately Needed Olympics to Distract the Masses from Deepening Economic Disaster.

UNEMPLOYMENT CONTINUES TO SKYROCKET: MORE PROOF THAT “BIG GOVERNMENT IS TOO BIG TO SUCCEED.”

Experts love to say that certain big companies and banks are “too big to fail.”

The reality is our federal government is too big to succeed. It's all going down in flames for Obama- “the anointed one.” He has proven once again that government spending has failed miserably.

The economy continues to crumble. Unemployment continues to rise (another 200,000+ announced today). The full (ie truthful) unemployment picture is now at a unimaginable 17%.

Sales of cars- without the “Cash for Clunkers” giveaway- continue to collapse. Banking experts know that a new wave of residential housing foreclosures is on the way. Worse, a complete collapse of commercial real estate is starting, as landlords of office buildings, strip malls, and shopping centers hand the keys to banks.

How do I know? It's happening now in Las Vegas- and we all know “what happens in Vegas, doesn't stay in Vegas.”

Consumer spending is getting worse-small business owner friends of mine report sales are dropping off a cliff- the worst they've seen yet in this 2 year depression.

As the economic disaster deepens, the White House and Fed lie to us all and tell us that the recession is over. It's either ignorance, delusion, irrational exuberance, or outright fabrication. You decide.

The Fox report on ACORN exposed one of their fund raising tactics as shaking down businesses using the old threat, that if the business didn’t donate to them, they would boycott and picket them. That sounds like the old mafia protection game. The black group that put together a sponsor boycott of Glenn Beck because he exposed Van Jones, is an offshoot of this ACORN tactic. ACORN is corrupt, and the black group that acted to avenge the truth being known about Van Jones, are both reprehensible. Playing the old race card anytime someone looks into the corruption of ACORN is wearing thin, IMO.

The Politics of Spite

There was what President Obama likes to call a teachable moment last week, when the International Olympic Committee rejected Chicago’s bid to be host of the 2016 Summer Games.

“Cheers erupted” at the headquarters of the conservative Weekly Standard, according to a blog post by a member of the magazine’s staff, with the headline “Obama loses! Obama loses!” Rush Limbaugh declared himself “gleeful.” “World Rejects Obama,” gloated the Drudge Report. And so on.

So what did we learn from this moment? For one thing, we learned that the modern conservative movement, which dominates the modern Republican Party, has the emotional maturity of a bratty 13-year-old.

But more important, the episode illustrated an essential truth about the state of American politics: at this point, the guiding principle of one of our nation’s two great political parties is spite pure and simple. If Republicans think something might be good for the president, they’re against it — whether or not it’s good for America.

Lame Gray Lady: NYT Scrubs Major Portion of Original Obama-Olympics Article
NewsBusters- Tom Blumer

Those who read the New York Times's coverage of the unsuccessful results of Barack and Michelle Obama's attempt to seal the 2016 Summer Olympics bid for Chicago on Friday afternoon ('For Obama, an Unsuccessful Campaign") might want to read it again.
If it doesn't seem the same, it's because it isn't.
Blogger Weasel Zippers (HT Hot Air Headlines via Instapundit) caught the Times committing a major scrub of the story. But it's really worse than that.
An excerpt of the item's first five paragraphs posted at FreeRepublic at 4:44 Eastern Time on October 2 shows that the article was apparently originally published under the same title with Peter Baker's byline Friday sometime Friday afternoon.

Clunkers in Practice

The Wall Street Journal

One of Washington's all-time dumb ideas. Remember "cash for clunkers," the program that subsidized Americans to the tune of nearly $3 billion to buy a new car and destroy an old one? Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood declared in August that, "This is the one stimulus program that seems to be working better than just about any other program." If that's true, heaven help the other programs. Last week U.S. automakers reported that new car sales for September, the first month since the clunker program expired, sank by 25% from a year earlier. Sales at GM and Chrysler fell by 45%...

The big difference between the Republicans and the Democrats when it comes to cheering those things which "hurt" the opposition leader is that the Democrats cheered every time an American soldier was killed overseas because it played into their political goals.

Remember how they were ejaculating all over the newsroom floors when the death toll hit 2,000? Remember their absolute glee whenever the war news was bad? Big difference between a dead soldier and some corrupt Chicago pols not being able to milk a ton of cash out of an Olympic event.

President Obama should ask gay activist Kevin Jennings to resign at once. Parents want people above reproach to make decisions concerning their children. Jennings is not qualified to be a safe school czar, he will be removed by his own words, and record of behavior, just like Van Jones was. It is important to note that Education Secretary Arne Duncan strongly supports Jennings and his pedophile promoting past. Duncan also promoted the propaganda sent to every school for the Obama indoctrination speech. Secretary Duncan is the one to watch, he is right on par with the other Obama appointees, dubious at best.
