Why has McClatchy barely mentioned Obama's war on FOX News?

If George Bush had singled out MSNBC as an unworthy news organization, the media would have responded with howls of derision. It would have made the front page of newspapers and the evening news on TV.

But McClatchy and the MSM have barely noted Obama'a attacks on FOX.

I checked McClatchy's main web site and found just one piece on Obama's war against FOX -- this little piece by Dave Helling.

Why has this story barely been covered? Chris Stirewalt explains.

Desperate for copy and worried about access, most reporters seem content to allow the president and his flack corps to decide what will count as real news and what will not. With layoff notices and bankruptcy filings piled up like bleached bones on the sides of a treacherous trail, media outlets are content to leave Obama's spiteful conduct unanswered.

The attacks on Fox helped break the cycle that has been buffeting the White House for months. A story pops up in the blogosphere, is ignored or overlooked by mainstream outlets, then gets picked up by Fox News, which repeats it until the rest of the media world has to pay attention.

If there were no Fox News, most Americans would have never heard of the president's pestilent former pastor, his radical "green jobs czar" or the antics of the Obama backers at the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Bloggers and independent journalists can churn up the stories, but without the Fox megaphone, they would never have gotten traction.

With the complicity of the supposed defenders of a free press at The Washington Post and the New York Times, the White House is succeeding in putting Fox in what the network's former anchor, Brit Hume, described as a "quarantine."

But on a strategic level, the tactics are sure to backfire.

By provoking a showdown with Fox, the administration hopes to rally liberals to the Obama flag. The Left has grown disenchanted with the Obama brand as it becomes clear that the president's brand of change is corporate-approved.

The White House wants to make liberals choose sides. Just as it did with Dick Cheney and Rush Limbaugh in the past, the Obama press shop likes to play up conservative bogeymen in hopes of scaring liberals back into the fold.

Truth to Power, anybody?

Update: a reader says the KC Star had a front page story on the administration attacking FOX News. I assume it was the Dave Helling piece I noted above but I don't know for sure.

(Perhaps the below article may offer some insight into the bed McClatchy’s made with its DNC masters)

Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel Criticizes Informant in Huge Corruption Scandal (NewsBusters)

There is currently a huge corruption scandal involving public officials in Broward County Florida that is being investigated by the FBI.

The local Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel newspaper, which has been dragging its feet until recently on reporting this scandal, has finally gotten around to criticizing someone involved in the scandal investigation...the informant who helped break the case. I kid you not.

First let us look at the background on the Sun-Sentinel's reluctance to do what it is supposed to do, namely investigating local scandals.

The reporter who has actually been writing about the breaking scandals in depth for weeks doesn't even work for the Sun-Sentinel.

He is Bob Norman of the Broward Palm Beach New Times free newspaper who describes the Sun-Sentinel foot-dragging in his Daily Pulp blog:

One of the great joys of watching the greatest corruption story in Broward County history begin to unfold during this past month has been watching the Sun-Sentinel play catch-up.

...The Sentinel, you have to understand, is what I call an "official" newspaper.

In general, it listens to local bigwigs and does what it's told, paying short shrift to those who would challenge those same officials.

Yes, it's the exact opposite of what a good newspaper is supposed to do, but it paid the bills for years and years.

O'Reilly reported last night that the Obama White House had a 2-hour secret meeting with far left media types on Monday. Probably administration drones ordering these lap dogs on how to cover stories. Obama is starting to scare a lot of people.

..What with McClatchy's weakened state, lies by omission are now their strong suit. They barely have enough money to repeat the Liberal mantra. Real news is beyond their ability which suits them fine, as it was always beyond their desire to just report the news.

6:10 I check in at Bob Norman's site several times a week. He has uncovered all kinds of corruption at the Broward School Board. It doesn't surprise me that the Sun-Sentinel is playing catchup.

Barely mentioned? The KC Star had a front page article on it. You should know as a former staffer that the chain's newsrooms do not operate in concert on 99 percent of things. But that might spoil you conspiracy theory.

8:04 -- was it the Dave Helling piece?

(BTW, I've never worked for McClatchy so I'm not a "former staffer".)

Yup, this site is run by a non-partisan concerned citizen. And we salute you!

Here's a partial list of those media sucks invited to the White House for a "secret" meeting on Monday. The list is courtesy of Michelle Malkin's site:

On Monday, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow were among several people who attended an off-the-record briefing with Pres. Obama at the White House. Sources tell us other attendees at the two-and-a-half hour chat included Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post, Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Gwen Ifill of PBS and Gloria Borger of CNN. Perhaps not surprisingly, no one from Fox News was in the room.

Now that speaks volumes about how low MSNBC and the NY Times will slither to kiss Obama's ass. This is outrageous.

PBS should just admit they are DNC propaganda voices. They are funded by taxpayer dollars and should be shut-off immediately because of their blatant partisan involvement. NPR also. Yes, it's outrageous.

9:15 thanks for the salute, but I am a Republican and I don't try to hide my bias.

MNI is run by committed democrat loyalists who won't admit it. and we salute them too. One finger at a time.

Lie. The star has no front page article on this at all.

By "partisan" he/she might have meant you didn't work for McClatchy???

11:39 maybe so.
