Star readers are confused about showcases lack of copy editors.

Probably makes perfect sense to their target audience. In fact, it is probably a, "scholarly showcases" by the way of the KCMO School Board's way of thinking.

It looks like many things don’t dawn on Dawn. But, like, just WOW!

Not Dawn's fault. She doesn't write her own headlines. That is the handiwork of an editor somewhere.

The Star gets good reporters. the problem is that they don't allow them to report and they hinder them more than they ever help them.

A lack of copy editors is really hurting The Star. How many corrections am I going to read in the newspaper or see online? Mediocrity runs amok...

I was truly impressed with the copy editors I worked with there. They treated text as text and worked with it without bias. In part, that was because Rich Hood ran a shop that valued diversity of opinion. Had he become The Star's publisher instead of Art Brisbane I think it would have become a far different newspaper.

Instead, Brisbane made The Star over in the image of his namesake, a socialist mouthpiece out of one side of his mouth and a lackey to power out of the other. If there is one good thing McClatchy did it was to fire Art Brisbane.
