This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.
The tea party protesters (most of whom appeared to be above or near Medicare and Social Security age) will be happy. They'll see how they like finding private medical coverage in the free market, and how they like living on their pensions and savings.
"They'll see how they like finding private medical coverage in the free market, and how they like living on their pensions and savings."
Unless you have a reason to believe that Obama intends to deny Medicare and SS to seniors, this comment makes no sense. Please explain why you believe seniors will not be receiving Medicare and SS under the Obama administration?
5:15: Medicare and Social Security will continue, contrary to your assertion at 9:10. But the tea partiers were screaming about "socialism" when they opposed health-insurance reform, so to be consistent, they must think Medicare and Social Security are "socialism" too. So If your assertion that Medicare and S.S. are going to be allowed to go bankrupt is correct, the tea partiers supposedly will be happy that those "socialist" programs are no longer around and they have to look for medical insurance in the private market and live off their pensions and savings.
"Medicare and Social Security will continue, contrary to your assertion at 9:10."
The only one who asserted that seniors would be forced to find "private medical coverage in the free market" was YOU, and that is an exact quote from your previous post.
"So If your assertion that Medicare and S.S. are going to be allowed to go bankrupt is correct"
"the tea partiers supposedly will be happy that those "socialist" programs are no longer around"
So you think those programs will just be eliminated when they reach bankruptcy?? LOLOLOLOL Seriously? Can you name a single government program that was ever eliminated because it exceeded its budget or failed to pay for itself? Just one???
"4:41: You missed the point all day -- indicating that your missing the point was probably deliberate."
Apparently you did not see the questions I posed, so I'll re-post for your convenience:
1. Do you honestly believe that Medicare and SS will just be eliminated when they reach bankruptcy?? Yes/No?
2. Assuming the answer to question one is YES based on your earlier reference to when "those "socialist" programs are no longer around"... Can you name a single government program that was ever eliminated because it exceeded its budget or failed to pay for itself? Just one???
6:16: 1. I certainly hope not. Unless the kook fringe gains even more influence in the Republican party than it has now, we'll continue to invest enough so S.S. and Medicare can meet their purpose of providing basic retirement security and good medical care regardless of a citizen's luck and/or ability in the stock market and/or ability to avoid a chronic disease or a family member's chronic disease. 2. Lawmakers, primarily Republicans, have tried to underfund or starve many programs, whose purpose, you may recall, is to provide a service to citizens that the private sector can't or won't provide. And now, please ask your social studies teacher to explain the point I originally made.
So if SS and Medicare are not going to be eliminated, then don't you agree that seniors will NOT be forced to find "private medical coverage in the free market"?
"Lawmakers, primarily Republicans, have tried to underfund or starve many programs"
Perhaps you didn't fully understand my question, so I'll repeat it for your convenience. Can you name a single government program that was ever eliminated because it exceeded its budget or failed to pay for itself? Just one??? Yes/No?

Or just the opposite.
Republicans opposed Social Security and Medicare too.
If you think health care is expensive now...just wait til its free.
I don't want them to stuff Obamacare in my stocking.
We have some congressmen who need new jobs...outside of the government.
Stick a fork in the Dems - they're done.
Nonsense
"Republicans opposed Social Security and Medicare too."
Republicans opposed SS and Medicare on the grounds that both would be unsustainable and eventually go bankrupt due to skyrocketing costs.
They were correct on both counts.
"That should please all the tea baggers"
"Teabagging" is a sexual practice within the gay community.
As I'm sure you know, most gays vote democrat.
So what exactly is your point about gays?
