Six weeks after a road between 2 villages was made impassable by buried IEDs and sectarian violence, Iraqi police and US soldiers from the 4th Brigade 2nd Infantry worked together to restore travel between the 2 villages. The above photo shows 2 soldiers from 4th Brigade 2nd Infantry patrolling a pomegranate orchard, looking for possible weapons caches. Explosive ordinace disposal teams slowly travelled the road, uncovering and destroying IEDs. US and Iraqi troops patrolled the orchards and areas alongside the road. When the troops arrived in Mansuriyah they were greeted by several hundred villagers.
