Houston Chronicle eliminates a comics page to save costs

Editor and Publisher: The Houston Chronicle (Hearst) has announced it is dropping one comics page to cut costs.

Silver linings in the decision are that the dropped comics can still be seen on Chron.com, one of the remaining daily print pages will be in color, and the Sunday comics section is not being reduced.

Comics dropped reportedly include "Arctic Circle," "Buckles," "Cathy," "Cleats," "Crock," "Dennis the Menace," "Diesel Sweeties," "The Dinette Set," "Drabble," "Gasoline Alley," "Heathcliff," "Judge Parker," "The Lockhorns," "Marmaduke," "Mary Worth," "Mr. Boffo," "My Cage," "Real Life Adventures," "Rubes," "Shoe," "Spot the Frog," "Sylvia," and "The Wizard of Id."
