Is it a trend yet?

The above chart shows civilian causualties in Iraq since May 05. The black bar is when Al Qaeda blew up the Golden Mosque, to provoke Shia militias to attack Sunnis. The violence accelerated for several months. The violence starts dropping in June and July 07, roughly when the surge reached full strength. The dark purple bars on the right show the months when the surge became operational.
