Nancy Pelosi was briefed on waterboarding in 2002, had no objection

Today comes word that Nancy Pelosi and other House members were briefed in 2002 about waterboarding. Not only did they have no objections to the practice, they asked if it was "tough enough."

Here is today's Washington Post:

Among the techniques described, said two officials present, was waterboarding, a practice that years later would be condemned as torture by Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill. But on that day, no objections were raised. Instead, at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder, two U.S. officials said.

And this:

"The briefer was specifically asked if the methods were tough enough," said a U.S. official who witnessed the exchange.

Bloggers are not impressed with the Democrats. Sister Toldjah: "So here we have yet another instance of Democrats making political hay about something they knew about long before it ever got leaked to the press." Dan Riehl: "Typical Democrats maneuvering - they were for it, before they were against it - and now only want to blame Bush." Jammie Wearing Fool: "disengenuous."
