Twenty-four veteran Kansas City Star employees have chosen to leave the paper under a voluntary severance program aimed at trimming costs.
Under the program, which was announced in November, employees with 20 years of uninterrupted service were eligible to leave with 20 weeks of pay. The program was limited to fewer than 4 percent of The Star’s employees and did not have a minimum job reduction target.
