Obama rips into the Clintons for lying

ABC is reporting Barack Obama has made blistering comments about Bill and Hillary Clinton during an interview with ABC's Robin Roberts. About Bill Clinton, Obama is quoted as saying,

"He continues to make statements that are not supported by the facts. Whether it's about my record of opposition to the war in Iraq or our approach to organizing in Las Vegas."

My first reaction: Does Obama think it's big news that the Clintons are ruthless liars? Anyone who paid attention during the 2 Clinton terms knows it. The people savaged by the Clintons during the 90s must be amused that Obama only complains about it when he is the recipient. Where was Obama - and Obama's current supporters - when the Clintons savaged Billy Dale, Ken Starr, Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick? Obama wasn't in Washington, of course. He was in Illinois, working in the state legislature. But how could he have missed the way Clinton attacked opponents? In the 90s, the press and the Democratic party largely gave Clinton a pass on his lies and attacks. But then, the main target of the Clinton machine was the unsympathetic Ken Starr, or else powerless lower middle class women (Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick). Now that the Clintons are lying about a sympathetic figure, will the press take notice? Maybe the bloggers will. A first salvo comes from Daily KOS: "Obama calls out Bill Clinton. About Time."
