Romney extends delegate lead

On Saturday Romney extended his delegate lead over his GOP rivals. Romney had at least 56 delegates heading into the Republican primary in South Carolina. He is followed by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee with 32 and Sen. John McCain with 13. A mid-day AP analysis said at least 17 GOP delegates had yet to be awarded. Romney's train is slowing picking up steam and pulling away. McCain and Huckabee need to do more than win South Carolina to catch up.
