"Balance" at the Sacramento Bee

On Saturday, Bee readers got an interesting dose of "balance" from the Bee. There were four pieces in the Opinion section, written by Paul Krugman, E.J. Dionne, Ginger Rutland, and Stanley Crouch.

Krugman is a liberal, Dionne is a liberal. Ginger Rutland has described herself as having "generally liberal leanings." The fourth author, Stanley Crouch, is no liberal. Crouch is more of a roving social critic, definitely not part of the conservative movement.

Sacramento Bee balance: 75% left, 25% sort-of right.

(For what it’s worth, I’d have no problem if 100% of the Bee’s opinion articles were from liberals, if the Bee would just admit it’s a liberal newspaper. But it's pretty annoying to see this imbalance by a paper that denies it has a liberal bias.)
