More on the Bee's cheap shot at Ralph Drollinger... why did the reporter get comments from Darrell Steinberg?

Earlier today I commented on the hit piece the Bee ran on Ralph Drollinger. The article is centered on comments made by Christian minister Ralph Drollinger that were supposedly offensive. The Bee quoted Drollinger saying God was "disgusted" at a rival Christian fellowship group.

How offensive were Drollinger's remarks? So offensive and so deplorable, apparently nobody in the rival fellowship group was offended.

The Bee reporter quoted one member of the "rival group" who had only positive things to say about Drollinger. Rick Keene, a legislator from Chico, said of Drollinger, "I don't have any critical thoughts of him." Nobody in the group gave the Bee reporter anything negative to say about Drollinger.

Well, that doesn't make a good story. Since Drollinger's remarks didn't offend anybody in the rival group, the reporter knew he needed to find somebody to be Outraged.

Enter Darrell Steinberg. He's the kind of Democrat always rummaging around for something to be Ourgaged at. Of course, he was Outraged at what Drollinger said. The comments were Deplorable. Offensive. (Never mind Steinberg wasn't the object of the remarks, nor were the remarks directed at any of the usual groups that would justify Steinberg's anger, like homosexuals, Jews, Muslims, whatever.)

True to his nature, Steinberg launches into Drollinger. Grateful to finally have a story, the reporter gives Steinberg six paragraphs to express his outrage.

See how this works, Binky?
