New York Times hit piece on McCain: is this the boost McCain needs to win conservative support?

Johnathan Martin at Politico says McCain will “go to war” against The New York Times due to the hit piece on McCain's alleged relationship with a telecom lobbyist. McCain seems to have a good case, since the Times deliberately left out lots of key information. Conservatives by nature don’t trust the NYT, so they might rally to McCain for going on the offensive. And if McCain makes the case the NYT slanted the coverage or left out important info, independents and moderates will be sympathetic to McCain.
