A BURKHA-wearing armed robber pushing a pram carried out a violent raid at a jewellers. The terrifying attack happened when the man, who police say was impersonating a mother browsing for gifts, entered Friends Jewellers in Cape Hill.
Immediately afterwards four accomplices who were wielding hammers burst in, smashing display cabinets and grabbing thousands of pounds worth of jewellery.
Police say staff in the shop were sprayed with an 'unknown substance' by the raiders. The four members who were targeted were not seriously injured but did suffer irritation to skin.
The incident occurred just after 1pm on Wednesday, March 19 and police today appealed for information.
The furious shop owner is offering a reward for information which leads to a conviction.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "The offenders are all believed to be Asian, dressed in dark clothing with their faces covered.
"One offender was thought to be wearing a full-length burqa garment, he entered the store with an empty pushchair and was described as pretending to be female."
