Jordan's Abdullah meets with Bush at the White House... Bush says he is "optimistic" about a peace deal... Abbas rebuffs calls to resume peace talks

Meeting with Jordan’s King Adbullah at White House, President Bush urged Israel and the Palestinians to continue working on a peace deal. Bush said he is optimistic that a deal could be reached before he leaves office. It's clear Bush's optimism is entirely misplaced, because Palestinian leader Abbas already rebuffed calls to return to peace talks. (Would somebody remind me why the Palestinians deserve statehood.)
