Mosul called "Al Qaeda's last urban stronghold."

At least 13 Iraqi soldiers died when a suicide bomber detonated a truck full of explosives at an Iraqi army base on Sunday.

Another suicide car bomber attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint on Sunday, killing one Iraqi soldier and wounding eight others, including five civilians.

Also on Sunday, Coalition forces captured an Al Qaeda in Iraq leader who was believed to have recently moved higher in Al Qaeda's leadership due to leadership in Al Qaeda being decimated over the past weeks.

On Friday, coalition forces detained three suspected terrorists, including one subject believed to have ties to al-Qaida senior leaders.

Coalition forces captured a terror cell leader and three terror suspects in Mosul on Monday.

US troops from 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, are working the latest phase of the fight against Al Qaeda in Iraq by living among Iraqi citizens at Combat Outpost Knight in Mosul.

US Air Force F-16 performed a "show of force" in Mosul on Wednesday.
