Deadbeat multi-millionaire: Hillary owes UC Davis $5,486, UC Santa Barbara $11,112, Cal State Northridge $13,611, San Diego State, $10,000

Hillary Clinton has amassed $40,000 in debts to public universities in California, and hasn't paid despite numerous requests.

In January, the Clinton campaign rented out the Pavillion at UC Davis for a big campaign rally. They also contracted for the UC Davis school band to perform at the rally. By all accounts the event was a huge success for Hillary's campaign - Bill Clinton spoke to an energetic crowd of thousands. The next day, the Sacramento Bee gave a glowing account of the rally.

Just one problem: Hillary Clinton has not paid UC Davis any of the $5,486 for costs related to the event.

Clinton's debt extends to other universities. Records show the Clintons have amassed large campaign debts at other California universities as well, including UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Northridge, and San Diego State - for the use of halls for Clinton rallies. These debts haven't been paid. Here's Matier and Ross:

In the wake of her Super Tuesday barnstorming, Hillary Rodham Clinton left a stack of unpaid bills here in California - with at least $40,000 still owed to four of the state's universities.

UC Santa Barbara is owed $11,112, UC Davis is owed $5,486, Cal State Northridge in L.A. County is waiting for $13,611, and San Diego State, $10,000 - all for the use of halls for Clinton rallies.

The UC Davis tab includes the cost of hosting former President Bill Clinton before a crowd of 7,800 at the student arena on Jan. 15 - with some money still owned to the school band, Cal Aggie Marching Band-Uh.

The cash-strapped Clinton campaign recently acknowledged putting off paying hundreds of bills across the country.

UC Davis spokesman Mitchel Benson said they've contacted the Clinton campaign three times seeking payment. If the money doesn't show up within the next month, "it will go to a collection agency," Benson said.

We asked the Clinton campaign for comment Friday and are still awaiting a response.

The Clintons have earned $109 million since Bill left office. Is it too much for them to pay their debts?
