Iran is ramping up its anti-Israel rhetoric. Gulf Daily News:
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki yesterday called on the world's Muslims to work to "erase" Israel, in the latest verbal attack by Tehran against the Jewish state.
"As the Imam Khomeini said, if each Muslim even throws a bucket of water on Israel, Israel will be erased," said Mottaki in Tehran, recalling a saying by Iran's late revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sparked international outrage when called for Israel to be "wiped from the map".
While Ahmadinejad and top military commanders regularly predict the demise of Israel, such virulent attacks from the foreign ministry are relatively unusual.
Meanwhile, Iran suggested yesterday it might move to limit co-operation with the UN nuclear watchdog, which last week said Tehran's alleged research into nuclear warheads remained a matter of serious concern.
Earlier yesterday, in Singapore, French Defence Minister Herve Morin said Iran should open its nuclear installations to international scrutiny to clear suspicions about its ambitions.
Separately, Iran's newly elected parliament picked Ali Larijani, one of Ahmadinejad's potential rivals in next year's presidential election for the influential post of speaker yesterday."
Iran says it would consider a meeting between Ahmadinejad and Italian officials and Pope Benedict XVI on an upcoming trip to Italy if they invited him.
Ahmadinejad is planning to go to Rome for a World Food Summit.
Since the insane Iranian regime is focused on "erasing" Israel, giving the Palestinians their own nation will not stop their goal of wiping Israel off the map.
