Fifteen years ago today, Bill Clinton launched 23 Tomahawk cruise missiles at Iraq because Saddam's government had initiated a plot to assassinate former President George H. W. Bush. An excerpt from Bill Clinton's statement:
These actions were directed against the Iraqi government, which was responsible for the assassination plot. Saddam Hussein has demonstrated repeatedly that he will resort to terrorism or aggression if left unchecked.
