Sacramento Bee announces its political coverage will follow talking points of the Democrat running for Congress against McClintock

Armando Acuna is the Public Editor at the Sacramento Bee. In his column today he lays out the coverage the Bee will provide in the November election. The column is more evidence the Bee structures its coverage to favor the Dem candidate.

Previewing the coverage the Bee will provide in the upcoming race between Republican Tom McClintock and Dem Charlie Brown, Acuna makes it clear the Bee will be following talking points from the Democrat, Charlie Brown:

The contest to replace Doolittle pits Democrat Charlie Brown, who narrowly lost to Doolittle two years ago, against McClintock, a termed-out state senator who has represented Thousand Oaks, a town in Southern California several hundred miles from the 4th Congressional District.

Registration in the district tilts heavily Republican, and in many elections, The Bee didn't spend many resources covering what was essentially Doolittle's automatic re-election. Not this time, Chance says in an e-mail.

"Brown is seeking to elevate veterans' issues, so that will be an element of our coverage this time, and we'll look at the sort of projects the district might need help with in Congress," explains Chance.

Did you catch that? Amy Chance says the Bee will take a closer look at veterans' issues since "Brown is seeking to elevate veterans' issues." Can it get any more blatant than that? And the other issue Chance plans to cover is "projects the district might need help with" in Congress. Take a guess which candidate that issue favors.

Since McClintock signed the no earmarks pledge, that issue favors the Democrat.

So the two issues the Bee says it will highlight in this race favor the Dem candidate.

Nice to know the Bee isn't taking sides or anything.
