McClatchy's Fort Worth newspaper celebrates Independence Day by running article slamming Pledge of Allegiance

McClatchy's Fort Worth newspaper continues its outreach program to conservative and moderate readers by choosing July 4th to run an opinion opinion piece slamming the Pledge of Allegiance.

I couldn't find a comments section at the Star-Telegram web site to guage reader reaction. I might be wrong, but I have a hunch subscribers are getting tired of being lectured by elitists. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram laid off 15 employees in April, and just last month announced it was laying off another 130 employees.

By the way, the article was written by Paul Howey, who writes children's books and speaks at elementary schools. Howey likes animals and doesn't believe in hunting.

This is such a great site -- it's clear, concise, and interesting.

Thanks for proving a comments section :)
