In internal memo, McClatchy news editor calls Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter "America's most famous baby mama"

An internal McClatchy memo written by Linda Williams, senior news editor at the News & Observer newspaper, refers to Sarah Palin's daughter as "America's most famous baby mama" and speaks about the Republican party in contemptuous terms.

Here's the memo:

A few comments on some good work in today’s paper:–A lively front page that gave our readers plenty to talk about.

Has the political right truly turned the corner and will cease to demonize opponents on so-called moral issues, or are we witnessing the boldest, most cynical, most hypocritical political spin in modern history? What is one to make of John McCain’s greeting at the Twin Cities airport yesterday of America’s most famous baby mama with a warm hug, and the apparent attaboy pat on the shoulder for the self-described “f***ing redneck” baby daddy? Are we now celebrating teenagers’ raging hormones?

The claims department feature (see 8a) is a great reader service.

I would like to see more scrutiny of the “facts” in Sarah Palin’s speech last night...

Blogger G.D. Gearino published this memo a week ago and said it had been written by N&O editor John Drescher. After reading the memo I thought it was a joke and decided not to comment on it. But today, Gearino confirmed the memo was written by the N&O senior news editor, Linda Williams. Jaded as I am, I was shocked that a newspaper senior editor would talk like that in public, much less put it in a written memo for reporters.
.
Anybody doubt this is more confirmation of left-wing bias in the newsroom?
.
What is the News & Observer going to do to put subscribers concerns at ease? Gearino says if the N&O is serious about this, they'd send her home for 2 weeks without pay.
.
That's the least they should do.  (Photo via Maynardije.org)

2 weeks pay is generous. She needs to be removed from her position for good. Nothing less.

I agree with the need for Linda Williams to be removed from her position. She does more to actually hurt her race than any "white" person in any newsroom today. With the News & Observer's numbers tumbling, you'd think they would be trying to keep any shred of credibility they could. Well, they've lost it now. Finally, her racist, left-leaning biased approach to newspapering is public

Anonymous - McClatchy keeps alienating readers. They don't seem to realize insulting your customers is bad for business.

The N&O, its difficult to find a more morally corrupt publication, has been for decades the official propaganda arm of the NC demagogue party and the dnc.

There is a set of criteria that is applied to all "journalist" employed by this corrupt organization that would not surprise those who still read the "news" that is dredged from the political sewers of the left. The following, which most organizations would insist be possessed by every employee are considered a reason for termination at the N&O: Character, dignity, honor, integrity, personal responsibility, respect for others and trust. There is a reason behind this attitude. Possessing these characteristics hinders the ability of the N&O to continue in its efforts to corrupt the field of journalism while distorting, twisting facts and enabling the N&) to present a foul and disgusting image of Republicans, Conservatives and Christians.

To the editorial management staff of the N&O, it is far more important to present a positive image of democrats and the islamic CULT, regardless of their previous acts and actions than the same positive image of Republicans, Conservatives and Christians no matter how deservig. The N&O has never met a corrupt democrat it would not support.

The N&O is so corrupt that its motto has been for years, Political corruption is our Business. Twisting and distorting the facts and lies are our means. Readership of the N&O has been on a steady decline for several decades while the population in its coverage area has been exploding. Many people will not even allow the N&O into their homes.
