Maybe McClatchy can pull a reporter out of Alaska to report on Obama's absurd slam on McCain

Barack Obama's latest slam on John McCain is ridiculous. Jake Tapper reports:
A pretty scathing charge from Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., this morning as he spoke to the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and assailed Sen. John McCain's, R-Ariz., position on free trade.

"Just ask the machinists in Pennsylvania who build Harley-Davidsons," Obama said of McCain's record. "Because John McCain didn’t just oppose the requirement that the government buy American-made motorcycles, he called Buy American provisions 'disgraceful.' Just ask the workers across this country who have seen their jobs outsourced. The very companies that shipped their jobs overseas have been rewarded with billions of dollars in tax breaks that John McCain supports and plans to continue.

"So, when American workers hear John McCain talking about putting 'Country First,'" Obama said, "it’s fair to ask –- which country?"

Um ... isn't that pretty much the dictionary definition of questioning someone's patriotism?

Don't hold your breath; reporting on absurd Obama claims doesn't seem to be on McClatchy's to-do list.

Actually, that's McCain's pattern. He also worked behind the scenes to make sure that the KC-135 tanker was built outside of America - a machination he was caught doing by several other Republican senators.

I wouldn't be so fast to question Obama on this one. Looks like there are two pretty clear examples he's right.

How is that questioning someone's patriotism? Unless you equate free trade with being anti-American, as some of you not-quite-conservative rightwingers often do.

It's a bad economic ploy by Obama, but it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with an attack on patriotism. Or are you suggesting that no one say anything about America at all during the campaign?

McClatchy wouldn't know the truth if it hit them upside the head.
