Wichita Eagle cartoonist Richard Crowson is working his last day at the newspaper.
Crowson said Friday he was laid off as part of a staff-reduction effort that the daily newspaper has undertaken in recent months.
“They’re just wanting to tighten down a little bit on the budget and adjust to the new economic realities,” he says.
Crowson has been at the Eagle since 1985, working first as a newsroom artist crafting illustrations, maps and graphics. In 1987, the paper created the cartoonist job, where Crowson has been ever since.
This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.
