At the end of 2007, McClatchy had roughly 14,300 full time employees. At the end of Q3, it was down to 11,500. By the end of 2008, McClatchy will employ roughly 10,500 full time. That's a drop of 26.5% year-over-year.One fourth of McClatchy's employees from last December are either gone or are about to leave. That is stunning.

Downsizing shocker!... McClatchy has lopped off 26.5 percent of its employees in the last year
McClatchy had its Quarter 3 earnings call today, and all kinds of information is dribbling out. Jen (of Fitz and Jen) heard the call and noted this revelation:
