Is McClatchy busily at work on a major national security piece to discredit McCain before the election?

This passing sentence from Nukes and Spooks blog seemed unusual:

Your N&S trio hasn't posted much this week, as we've been tied up with a number of things, a lot of them related to foreign policy/national security in the closing days of the 2008 presidential campaign.

I ask: Would McClatchy time a major national security story, publishing it just prior to the election, in order to sway readers to vote for McClatchy's preferred candidate, Barack Obama?
