This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

Poll: Should McCatchy CEO Gary Pruitt get a pay cut, or a buyout? (bumped)
Gannett CEO Craig Dubow is taking a $200,000 pay cut. What should McClatchy do with Gary Pruitt?

Pay cut? Buyout?
Which does Pruitt deserve?
Some staffers at McClatchy's Raleigh N&O sayhe deserves neither.
But they can't give him what they feel he deserves because the Constitution bans cruel and unusual punishment.
While Pruitt might be responsible for some dumb corporate decisions, he is not directly responsible for the loss of readership at most local papers.
People don't sit at their breakfast table and read the 256th biased editorial or hit piece by AP's Jennifer Lovin and say, "I am going to cancel my subscription to this left wing rag because I don't like Gary Pruitt".
Most of the people who cancel subscriptions or advertisers who refuse to support the left wing media, don't even know who Gary Pruitt is.
You can thank the local biased editors and advocacy journalism for most of the problems.
Today my KC Star was delivered at 6:30 a.m. instead of around 5 or 5:30 a.m.. I couldn't take it to work with me because of the late delivery. I called to ask where it was and the rep could have cared less. My question is what is wrong with us that we put up with a paper that has VERY little content except sports and obits? So today I am going to take the advise that was given to try the NY Times. I'll let you know how it works out.

John in Carolina
Ditto!!!!!!!!!
When the Papers have lost their Permanence -- Pruitt will still be well off. He's young, he can always re-train and find a new industry.
How, when, and why he goes does not matter at this point.

Why isn't there an option of FIRE HIM no pay?
