This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.
I live in KC and take the NYT and I LOVE it. The best paper you can get! It will take most of today to read amd enjoy it where the KC Star will take about 40 minutes and wonder why in the hell I bother. Which I won't when my subscirption runs out. Sorry.
NY Times Reader cost $169.00 a year and you have a 7 day newspaper at your finger tips. Take your laptop and away you go with the 7 day paper and you don't have to be connected to the web.
Try it and you'll love it. If you don't like the politics don't read those parts.
..Well that's the point Prof. Anderson was making: it's ALL politics. The NYT has given up the expensive and difficult job of news reporting and reports their opinion of the news instead. If you like that, 5:02, you certainly should continue to take it. Just don't be so naive as to call their opinions "news" and shill it as such.
5:41 Here is the point I was tring to make. KC Star today Sunday. Local Section (one of the main ones) total 10 pages. Approx. Over 3 pages of obits, 1 page of letters to the editors, 2 pages of opinion and around 2.50 pages of pictures and ads. This leaves about 1.50 pages of articles and I'm being generous at that. So you see in my opinion a LOT less news reporting here then in the NYT. So I don't think I am naive but I do agree with you that there should be less opinions and much more reporting. They just let go, what was it 16 employees that do just that.
6:39 is right on. Most of the KC Star consist of pictures and ads on a daily basic. This is why they can cut most of the newsroom. This is the way they plan on increasing revenue until the public wakes up. Buy a good book and watch TV in the mornings for news. You'll be a lot better off.
Personally I wouldn't wipe my butt with either one, but, if I were in need of creative writing classes, I would certainly go to the NYT. Their Socialist Propaganda is certainly more entertaining than the poorly written propaganda in the Star.
Besides, the NYT doesn't have Beady Eyed Mike Hendricks, Jason Waistlost and Lewis "you can't call me socialist, I'm Black" Diuguid.
On the other hand, I would have arrested the NYT publisher and tried him for aiding an abetting the enemy at least twice in the last few years, so, toss a coin.
