So whatever came of the MI meeting that was all the buzz yesterday??

About the MI meeting, a reader says Chris Hendricks "will be going over "our company, the economy, and other topics that affect McClatchy Interactive". From what I hear there are several meetings scheduled later in the day so that is the reason for the early meeting."

Just in from the NYSE:

Effective Monday, November 17, 2008, the NYSE is eliminating the “Sub-penny Trading Halt Condition.” All securities currently subject to a sub-penny trading halt will resume trading on the NYSE. Orders routed to the NYSE in these securities will be executed on the NYSE (unless routed in compliance with Reg NMS), and all valid NYSE order types and times-in-force will again be accepted. Going forward, the NYSE will no longer halt trading and transfer securities to the NYSE Arca trading platform when they reach the $1.05 threshold.

In addition, NYSE has amended its transaction fee schedule to establish a fee for all transactions in stocks that have a trading price below $1.00 equal to the lesser of 0.3% of the aggregate transaction value, or the fee that would have applied if the stock did not have a trading price below $1.00.

Please note that the NYSE systems will not quote in sub-pennies or accept limit orders in sub-pennies.

No thanks. The Star-Telegram is where the scum from Capital Cities were spawned. These are the people seeded all throughout what became Kinght Ridder. This is the place that breed the people who destroyed the integrity of the employee owned, community oriented newspaper in favor of corporate propaganda machines accepting advertising fees for editorial comment.

The Star-Telegram deserves the same fate of the Star and the other McClatchy holdings so they can become local entities free of San Francisco values.

After his usual "the company is not going bankrupt" speech (last times he did it, all hell broke loose days later), he ended the meeting by telling everyone to work harder. This isn't a 9-5 job and we walk out the door, our job is not over. How's that for motivation for the Interactive VP of a failing company?

The reason they won't go bankrupt is they have nothing the banks want. Otherwise the banks would not have given them new loans with different terms. If they sell all their buildings that just leaves the presses and who in the hell wants them? Not even the public! Not the banks so that way they stay in business and write their own terms with the banks..
