This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

Jeff Jarvis, was bounced out of an industry association meeting. (The reasoning seemed to be because he is a blogger, not a dinosaur.) He explains his side of things.
This is getting better than most national sports. Later in his blog, he highlighted another writer’s interesting remarks, “Blaming the customer,“ “crappy industry.” Now we are getting down to the nitty-gritty. ----------- January 8th, 2009 Great line in Matt Welch’s column in Reason about the folly of bailing out newspapers: [“Blaming the customer] is the second-to-last refuge of any [crappy industry], business, or organization (the last refuge being asking for a handout on Capitol Hill).”
I was disappointed to see a sexist comment to the post, and Jarvis does not take exception to this sexist, and leftist loon remark.
If he really wanted to help a young writer, he would tell him there is such a thing as unbiased reporting, and to leave the snarking to the newspaper journalists that are circling the drain. ---------- Jarvis Blog comment: Comment excerpt: “ Hey! Wait a minute! According to [Sarah Palin,] all you bloggers are supposed to be anonymous and not to be taken seriously. What’s with all the names and pictures and substance?
Jeff Jarvis says: January 9, 2009 at 3:28 pm Joseph, Welcome back. Delighted to see you again - because of comments like this…….
I read Kos one time. It is a ‘fling electronic dung and screech’ site, IMO.
However, I love reading these angst-ridden journos piss and moan posts. There is always a new ‘Stupid business model of the day’ to amuse me. Today I read that the print media needs to be ‘refigured’ or ‘rejiggered’ as some folksy journos say.
Geez, now it is the 'demassification' of newspapers that’s the ticket. How does Pruitt plan to ‘demassify’ McClatchy? The old fashioned way, MNI = 00.00? That is probably his first plan that will actually work.
Archer05 -- Gary Pruitt could talk for hours and use impressive words like "demassify." He can mesmerize fellow elites with tales of how McClatchy is becoming a hybrid media organization, both print and online. The media elites nod their heads at Pruitt's savvy and wisdom. They're not bothered watching MNI head straight into the tarmac -- because it must be part of Pruitt's brilliant strategy.

Joseph,
Welcome back. Delighted to see you again - because of comments like this…….
Archer05 -- the commenter (Joseph LoRe) also said he has spent the last year hanging out at Kos. Reading Kos for a year could do permanent damage.
