I'm thinking it's time for McClatchy to dump its "Truth to Power" motto, because it doesn't seem to fit.
I noted earlier today that McClatchy has scrutinized Levi Johnston more than Bill Richardson. During the fall campaign it was obvious McClatchy did more investigative reporting on Joe the Plumber than Barack Obama. See here and here and here. McClatchy -- led by bureau chief John Walcott -- was among the worst offenders in the media feeding frenzy on Sarah Palin.
"Truth to Power"? No, that motto doesn't fit what McClatchy actually does.
So I'll throw it out to readers -- any suggestions for a new motto for McClatchy?

This could be good. If we get some good nominations I'll run a poll so readers can choose the best one.

McC.W.,
Can we submit more than one motto? I have a long commute today. This is way more fun than counting utility poles.

I have a travel associate today that wants to add to our list. He says his moniker is ‘raunchy‘ when he comments. I am submitting his ideas on his word he will vote for McClatchy Watch, and comment hereafter on his own.
