Vote update

The 2008 Weblog Awards

I want to say “Thanks” to all who have voted for this blog so far in the Best Up And Coming Blog category. There is stiff competition in this category including some very good veteran bloggers. As of now I'm in 3rd place. I'd sure like to move up. But I'm not worried because there are several days left. With a strong push in the several days remaining we could move into 2nd place. First place is even within reach. My reminder to you: remember to vote once every 24 hours!

That's OK, I have my computer set up to automatically vote twice every day at 11:59P.M. and 12:01 A.M.

If this blog doesn't win the award for some reason (banish the thought) but comes within a few hundred votes of winning, I suggest you sue. Just have the board of electors count a bunch of votes two or three times until you're declared the winner.

9:28,
I looked up the article on CEO Eric Schmidt. It is terrifying to think what would happen if Google decided to get involved in "saving newspapers."

In case you missed it, Google has admitted that "its staff will pick and choose what appears in its search results."

You are right about Google selecting search results. Case in point, type in a search for “Biased New Reporting,” then hit “I’m feeling lucky.”

"Terrifying" for sure.

Archer, that is so incredible. I wonder why the "lucky" button doesn't point to Google's own book web site that provides a good-sized preview of the best seller on the very topic of media bias.

Anon. 8:50,

I have read that Goldberg’s book ‘Bias’ was one of the first eye-opener books exposing the liberal bias in the media. I remember a good story about a typical Marxist professor, and Goldberg’s heresy.

A student in journalism class asked if Bernard Goldberg’s book ‘Bias’ might be added to the required reading list to add balance. The professor became enraged, his face turned purple, and he foamed at the mouth until he fell unconscious. The student later remarked, “If we didn’t have to administer CPR, we might have found out how he really felt about the suggestion.”
