RiseUp being sued, but not by the KC Star? Why Not?
A poster here said RiseUp was an insert and paid the Star as Parade magazine does. How then did it cost staffers jobs?

Bottom Line: "Many Star staffers have blamed RiseUp for helping to cause staff cutbacks at the newspaper due to its [huge revenue losses."]

Ellis had proclaimed the magazine's mission was to provide a "sustained conversation about race, religion and ethnicity.["It also coincided with the presidential campaign of Barack Obama.”]

Was there ACORN money involved? The Star knows these answers, where is the story?

Great Question. Truth to Power anyone?

The story is sitting in the US Attorney's office. It will be an interesting one.

It was not just an insert. They even brought back some press people to handle it.

How come we don't hear more about the fact that the Kansas City Star prints The Pitch?

Most of the morons here don't understand the entities here: 1. Kansas City Star-publisher of a daily newspaper 2. Kansas City Star Press Pavilion-commercial printer

The only moron here is you. The only entity is The KC Star Psudo Publisher and confirmed tabloid who rents their presses out because they couldn't pay for the aquarium that they placed it in.

The Seattle PI, which has championed every tax increase and fought every tax reduction in history, has suddenly found a tax break they like.

There is a scandal in this RiseUp/Red Star story. Someone is trying so hard to squelch the truth. I would like to know if there is Soros money is in the operation somewhere? This whole RiseUp, at election time, concept stinks. "You can't fool all of the people, all of the time," right?

I went back to read the RiseUp thread. At first there was an attack on our host, and then it went on to anyone that hit a nerve. However, near the end of the thread, there was the post I re-posted below. The posts following this post were attacks. Someone, really doesn’t want this information out in the blogosphere.

Re-post:
“I'm just now getting to this post. Art Brisbane, former publisher of The Star, was on the RiseUp advisory board. There were other former Star employees there as well. Brisbane convinced the Star's current publisher, Zieman, to support RiseUp. The Star also printed the product, and as of this date is owed over $2 million. In fact, word is that the last round of cuts at The Star were directly tied to the failure of RiseUp and the $2-million-plus owed and that is why two of Bribane's good friends were cut - Hearne Christopher and Lee Judge.”

This very discussion points out why the old media is DONE. When the so-called watchdogs, become simpering lapdogs, there is no reason for them to exist.

I know let's ask our friend the "Readers Rep" Donovan. Then we'll all know the truth. HA

The Red Star is not going to release information that might incriminate themselves, how will the truth ever be known? I don’t think Democrats in any office will conduct a thorough investigation. The truth about this past election must be kept under wraps. The news media will take their unscrupulous secrets to their graves!

The KC bloggers are the only hope to ever finding out the truth. In fact, they have been the only hope for reading the truth about anything!

The real scandal is at Pickledish. Hidden in the patterns are secret messages that only members of the Communist party can decode.

Screenshots outs newspaper’s flimsy excuses.
[“Misunderstandings with people who carry guns can turn ugly.
This past week it has been ugly at the newspaper…”]

A Memphis newspaper, Commercial Appeal, posted a Web only database of the people who have a permit to carry a weapon in Tennessee. A posters writes the newspaper didn’t have their facts straight, and their anti-gun agenda was the motive for the database.

The important point, they made one BIG mistake, they said they did not print peoples addresses and birth dates, but they were caught in their faulty memory, because of a ‘Screenshot.” Another post stated they redacted the names of their [staff people,] and area [big shots] from the list before making it available.

Another screenshot listed those names, with their original information in the comments. The comments section is brutal. A newspaper caught promoting their hidden agenda, and bloggers keeping them honest. Also, a good view on how fast a journalist can run backwards!

What does it matter that The Star prints The Pitch? The Pitch needs to be printed. The Star has a press. It's business. There's no editorial crossover.

I don't know. All those sex escort ads in the back of the Pitch? There's a scandal there and the Star is covering it up.

This is good:
“What makes an asshole like Pruitt think that consumers that don’t want his print rags, will want his online digital rags?”

“Digital rags” So that’s what those McClatchy black holes are called.

I noticed that the Top 30 Web sites no longer has the KC Star listed. I wonder if not allowing anonymous posting has hurt them?

Re: “I wonder if not allowing anonymous posting has hurt them?”

At the time the McClatchy papers made the change, the comments were mostly negative about them. I think they had to stem that tide, or cut out comments altogether.

At the same time the Scar made the decision, a rumor circulated that they were collecting e-mail addresses for marketing purposes. Some posters were angry about signing up, others didn’t trust them, and others like me, don’t give a shit what they do. Lame, man, they are lame.

That is not a rumor. Not only is it a fact, but they make a killing selling your information to spammers.

It's Blake-thirty!

Ah, Sun-flower! weary of time,
Who countest the steps of the Sun;
Seeking after that sweet golden clime,
Where the traveller's journey is done:

Where the Youth pined away with desire,
And the pale Virgin shrouded in snow,
Arise from their graves and aspire
Where my Sun-flower wishes to go.
